This mall is one of 2 malls that I would actually call a mall and less overpriced/touristy than the Esplanade in St George that is essentially an extension of the cruise ship terminal. Spiceland has 2-3 tourist shops instead of the all tourist shops at the other, but you have to pay more for recognizable goods because everything has to get shipped in. So Grenada rating is 4/5, compared to the States a 2/5. As long as you are aware of this going in, its decent!
There are other "malls" in Grenada, but once you get to them you find run-down appearing stripmalls. These more run-down appearing ones can have a cool shop or neat place to eat, but mostly contain shops that have seen better days. Nearby examples are marquis complex: neat tobacco shop, eatery or two thats about it, Excel plaza: movie theater, MNIB which has a wall of made in grenada stuff, Subway, ..., Grand Anse Shopping Center: Food Fair (some stuff cheaper than IGA some stuff not, not as clean smelling or appearing), Hubbards (cheaper than hardware in spiceland, but sometimes whats cheaper is also a cheaper quality/sourced alternative also not THAT much cheaper), ...
Up the street a bit from Excel plaza is CK's grocery which has a good selection of imported liquor and some random items. Not THAT much cheaper than the other grocery, but again slightly different stuff. Down the "highway" (4 lane boulevard) from that is an ACE hardware (owned by same guy who owns the stationary shop in spiceland mall.) Next to that is Quality Meat which is a good price for frozen chicken/turkey (other stuff not really any cheaper). Also a true value hardware just a little further down the street from ACE, but ace has a bigger selection of living items whereas the true value probably has a better selection of grill/patio kind of stuff (both have actual hardware stuff). True value has neater plants in front of their store to buy in a shaded cage thing (jasmine), whereas ACE has orchids inside.
Thats my two cents worth. I use google a lot to find places and there really isn't a lot of information on google about businesses in Grenada so I figured I would put something up here to give people a better idea of...
Read moreI really like it here. It's predictable as long as you consider you are on an island. If a store runs out of an item... they have to wait for a shipping container (sometimes for weeks and then they may sell out quickly) #islandlife lol There is always parking and it's convienent. There is a grocery store, a drug store, a stationary store, a "hardware store" (that sort of doubles as an everything store), a linen store, you can buy clothes here, and you can find a few really good food options. Out front the mall is a Payless Shoe store, KFC, and Pizza Hut. There is also a gym here. There isn't much that you can't get here. The bathrooms are old, but always clean. Security is very nice and always present. Don't expect to shop on Sunday's (expect for grocery's). I would also recommend that travelers not come here if they are in a rush for anything. In fact, don't come to the Caribbean if you ever plan to be in a hurry. Stuff happens at a different pace here. Just go with the flow and you'll find this place, although an older mall,...
