Feeding times are 8 AM and 12 PM! Come during these times and you can see the birds nearby descend to feast.
What a beautiful thing they are doing to preserve the macaw and bird population in the area. The location is in a tranquil area with a river running through the vicinities. It was really cool to be up and close with these majestic creatures. You can pay some money to feed the birds as well and it was a very fun experience.
To note though you may be able to see the scarlet macaws chilling at the entrance of Copan ruins too but either way it was a great way to spend some time in the afternoon admiring and seeing the sanctuary's preservation efforts.

There’s a cafe with WiFi for a coffee break if you want to rest and really spend a long time here. The birds are gorgeous and fascinating. The staff are super kind, passionate, and knowledgeable! There’s also a place where you can take a picture with the macaws around you. A plus was the energetic pups on the premise. Read moreAt first we had our doubts of this place because of all the touristy photos with people and the birds where the do advertising with.
Luckily they don't do that any more because of covid. So we were totally wrong. This place is really about saving and repopulating the Macaws in the region. The information signs are in Spanish and English which is a big plus! Staff are friendly and like to give extra information. The place itself looks very well maintained and th coffee in the cafe is tastefull.
We definitely recommend this place to everybody that has some spare time in...
