A Csóványos 938 méteres magasságával a Börzsöny legmagasabb hegycsúcsa, ezzel Magyarországon a 20. a csúcsok rangsorában. Pest és Nógrád megye határán fekszik, Pest megyének legmagasabb, Nógrád megyének a második legmagasabb pontja. A 938 m magas Csóványos tetején található geodéziai torony átépítésével egy szinte új kilátó létesült, amelyet 2014-ben nyitottak meg a nagyközönség előtt.
