One of the most interesting places on the Reykjanesbaer peninsula. Unfortunately, due to volcanic eruptions in very close proximity, access to this mountain has been blocked. There are two routes to the summit: 1. A gentler all-around approach (longer). 2. Steeper approach through the "forest" (shorter). From the summit, the view overlooks the entire area, including the Blue Lagoon. On good visibility you can also see Reykjavik, or the ocean. Currently, from the top you can see for sure the solidified lava from recent eruptions. Below the mountain itself some greenery, which is scarce nearby. If the weather is nice, you can have a picnic.

Þorbjörn is the closest mountain to the blue lagoon in Iceland. This mountain was used by the US military in the past and now it's one of the jews of Iceland overlooking the blue lagoon. Short 2 hours hike up and back down and around the mountain. Easy walk even for those who are not used to...
