Read moreThis waterfall is a hidden gem, and If you are brave enough like we were, take a hike up that hill to the left. There is a trail that leads to the top of the waterfall. Then continue to hike up that hill, and the next, and the next you will see about 6 more waterfalls leading into each one below the next, along with the most breathtaking views of the sheep grazing in the valley below and the ocean at the skyline. Going up was easy the easy part, coming down..m I was scared. Its alot steeper the higher you go. If you decide to stay at the bottom, and not take the hike, it is still worth every second. Such a peaceful location, for most of our time here, which was over 2 hours we had to ourselves. The sunset was spectacular. I cannot wait to come to this location again... so much...
Read moreWe added this one in on a whim because it wasnt far from our guesthouse. Its an off the beaten path waterfall so you wont have many other people while you are there but its beautiful and definitely worth visiting.
You do have to pay for parking. Its 1,000 ISK. There are no restrooms here. Theres a second, adjacent fall that you cant access but that you can photograph. It takes 5 min to climb it for good photos.
The one note that I would offer...if you are traveling to Seljalandsfoss from here you are going to be taken on a long journey across a gravel road to be brought back out to route 1 just before Seljalandsfoss. Lots of birds along this road...we even saw an Oystercatcher on eggs.
