I WOULD GIVE NO STARS if possible! SAVE YOUR MONEY and do it with another tour company! After reaching out to the owner and not getting a response, I disputed the charge but looks like the owner doesn't want to take responsibility for lying and providing a poor experience for his customers. Based on a recommendation, I initially reached out to a specific experienced guide at the company. After "he" responded, "I" would love to show you Iceland, I booked the tour. I was totally surprised when a woman showed up instead. While on the tour I looked up the person I thought was to be our guide on linked in and saw he left the company a year ago. Totally unethical for them not to tell me he had left and PRETEND to be him! Instead of an experienced guide, we got a woman and her husband, the driver on their SECOND trip ever! Here was our experience: - Guide was not properly trained on how to use the microphone -- Reykjavik Outventure did not access her knowledge of the tour sites and if they did and still sent her out, shame on them. Mostly she googled and read from her phone. We would've been better served by being our own tour guide than what we got with Reykjavik Outventure!! - She pointed out the Kerid Crater to us and when we asked if we could stop, we were informed that we could not stop in order to make our last appointment in time.… she then took out her phone for us to see what we would’ve seen. Given this was a private tour, she should’ve been able to accommodate us by providing options to adjust the schedule so we could stop but still reach the final destination in time..ie, cut our lunch time or less time at Thingvellir. Additionally, I added the baths to the tour in lieu of the secret lagoon at the company’s suggestion (whomever wrote the email). If they didn’t think we would have time to see all the sites of the Golden Circle, this should’ve been put forth in the planning stage. - At each stop we were dropped off and given a time and location to meet the bus. This shocked me. The reason one hires a private guide is to have someone accompany you which elevates the experience- real time insights and answers to questions. -Vehicle had to have battery jumped because they husband left something on that drained the battery (see photo) and took unnecessary time away from our tour. - Company did not have them map out the route in advance. We were headed to the Hvammsvik Baths and when we came to a T in the road, they stopped because they weren’t sure where to go. I pulled up the directions on my phone which indicated to go right. Passed it up to the front of the vehicle since i was sitting in the back but they ignored it, went with their instincts and turned left.. After travelling about 10 minutes, they realized they made a mistake and had to turn back. The late arrival cut our experience short because we had to get back to Reykjavik for a dinner reservation. She had to call the company because they weren’t provided with all the correct elements of my trip( they did not know I paid for the Hvammsvik baths in advance) For a full day tour, no water was provided She had to call the company because they weren’t provided with all the correct elements of my trip( they did not know I paid for the Hvammsvik baths in advance)

I did my hunting the northern lights with Reykjavic Outventure and I just have positive things to comment. First of all, you gotta now that Lights are not guaranteed cause it depends on a lot of factors, so if you get to see it, please appreciate it. Patience is one of the greatest virtues that you need to have in order to see the lights. Ok, now done with the NL classes and getting to the point of the review. Customer service was 5/5 great on communication and attention to details. If you dont get to see the lights you can re-schedule all the times you want until you see them. They were very kind and also felt like I could trust the company in terms that they keep their word. They even help me schedule to be the last one to be picked up at my hotel, due to personal reasons. A special shout out to Joanne and Fatima. Then moving on the tour. I did a few, first one with BG, amazing and peculiar guy, he probably been chasing the lights for long time now and you can tell the man know his stuff. Gotta give it to him with the TV videos providing information of the NL. Pretty creative. He also has a very good humor and know how to keep the mood going in the bus. Then another night I did the tour with Palli and Siggi. Please name a better duo? Ill wait. Ok nothing right? Thats what I thought. I can tell Palli like to take pictures cause trust me, he made sure everyone got out of there with a bunch of pictures for the memories. I was even tired of trying poses. Also, Siggi and Palli were monitoring and following if there would be more northern lights appearing that night after we already saw them. That was the case and their decision was to wait and stay for them to appear again, cause the lights were going to be much stronger. Which was the case. So great team work and decision. Please take into account that these guys do the tour probably a few times if not everyday of the week, so staying there after you already saw the lights and late night, its passion for what they do. I appreciated that. At the end, I went to my hotel full of hot chocolate and cinammon rolls that they gave us. Can I ask for more? Not really. So cant complain. Great night for the memories. If I ever go again to Iceland (which ill probably do) will do it again. So I recommend it to anyone and hope that you can see the lights. PS. Outventure- I dont know how youre gonna distribute the points between BG-Siggy-Palli , but please make sure all of them get a reward jajaja. Thanks guys and see you in another one.

Was awesome! The night we saw the lights was a very eventful but memorable night! I booked this tour originally for Tuesday night Feb 6th but it got cloudy that night and we didn’t see any lights. They offered us free reruns until the night we saw the lights as a result though and I chose to do my rerun the next night on Wednesday Feb 7th. The night started out with much clearer skies and we saw some faint lights in the distance from where we were at to start the night. That was all though and once it started getting late we started moving around on the way back towards Reykjavík to see if we could spot any lights. No luck and then our bus ended up getting stuck in the snow … the night felt like it was getting worse haha. Using a collective effort by our entire group we finally got our bus pushed out of the snow we got stuck in after about 40 ish minutes…. We were all about to get back on the bus to head back to Reykjavik and guess what decided to show up from behind the dark mountains up in the sky… the Northern Lights. It’s so funny how that played out for us … it was perfect timing. With the lights out in front of us our guide Gosi got the pro camera out and we all started taking our pictures with the lights. We spent about the next 20 to 30 minutes marveling at the lights and taking pictures before we all packed up and finally started heading back to Reykjavik. It was quite the night and a big thanks to our driver and lead guide Gosi for leading us on this eventful but ultimately memorable night! He taught us a lot about the Northern lights and got us some great pictures with his camera. He did make the turn that got us stuck in the snow … but it’s okay… it happens and … if it weren’t for us getting stuck we would have probably never saw the lights that night because we were already on our way back to Reykjavik. Also big thanks to Teo who was responsible for making the delicious hot chocolate we had during the freezing cold both nights I was out there… it tasted great and kept me warm. Ditch the big bus groups, spend the extra money and go out lights hunting with the smaller bus groups like this that are more personalized… you won’t regret it! - Nolan

Avoid this unethical company. It is easy enough to run a good tour when conditions are ideal. When a company shows it's true colors, however, is how they respond when things don't go to plan. This company showed it's true colors. Our tour experience was the single worst travel experience I have ever had. We saw zero aurora. Not even a cloudy glimmer. Nothing. Weather has a mind of its own, but this company had sent us an email just that afternoon bragging that they could still find aurora despite the clouds. This was obviously disappointing, but this company then made it so much worse. We were forced initially to wait outside in the dark and cold just staring at nothing for about an hour. Our guide did not provide any information about aurora or really talk to us at all, aside from talking personally with one young woman the whole time. We eventually asked if we could wait on the bus rather than stand around in the freezing dark in silence. The van door did not open or close unless the guide turned the van on, so we had to either be freezing with the wind coming in, or be trapped inside a cold dark bus. This lasted for hours. Our guide then abandoned us. He never once checked on us or gave us any updates. It was past midnight and we had no idea what was going on. To make matters worse, the company's van was malfunctioning. It was loudly beeping and making strange sounds the whole time. So we were stranded with a van that clearly had something wrong with it worried if we would be stranded overnight with no communication. And we couldn't even rest because of the infernal beeping and freezing cold. Truly, I have never been so eager to get home. We are avid travelers and have booked over 50 tours on Viator alone in many different countries. I have never once requested a refund. I did in this case. I thought this was the least the company could do and frankly should have been given automatically. To my shock, they refused. I asked one more time and they refused again. Apparently they will not give refunds if you go on the tour, so that explains why they pressured us to go with their enthusiastic email saying that the tour was "ON" and that we would be going North to avoid the clouds in Reykjavik (screenshot attached). I don't know where they got the audacity to call themselves the #1 northern lights tour but that title is very undeserved. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Don't pay $300 to be miserable and get taken advantage of. Don't be fooled - choose...
