Raja Jai Singh's Chhatri located at Boharda village is notable monument which is situated on the bank of the Tapi river about 4 miles from Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh). One has to travel by the Mohana road to reach it. The road leading to it, which goes through villages, is rough and not metalled. There is no civilization around the structure. This Chhatri was constructed by the order of Emperor Aurangzeb in honour of the memory of Raja Jai Singh, the Commander of the Mughal force in Deccan. Raja Jai Singh while returning from the Deccan died at Burhanpur. Raja Jai Singh died in the Burhanpur on 28 August 1667 under mysterious circumstances and is universally believed that he had been poisoned on the orders of Aurangzeb. The chhatri itself is of black stone and looks quite grand. The structure is open from all sides. There is a big dome surrounded by eight small domes. There are beautifully carved arched pillars supporting the domes. Burhanpur is a treasure house for those who love architecture, history and heritage.

Loved the Architecture. It feels so cool in this monument. Most of the people just come to enjoy the coolness of this beautiful place. Not a Crowdy place i.e. a plus point. This place has a very calm and peaceful ambience and will help you to unlock answers that are trapped in you. A very quiet and peaceful place to visit... Cleanliness is maintained by the local staff. One of great monument in history of Burhanpur..!!I Love to visit it every know and then I get free time..!! Though there is no road leading to this place but if you know any local then this is a must visit place. No maintenance by the Architectural Department. Not even a single govt in charge is there. Needs a serious attention otherwise the remaining beauty of this place would also get damage.

Way to this place is a normal Soil Road, don't go in the rainy season otherwise u would get stuck in the middle. No maintenance by the Architectural Department.
