शहंशाहे मालवा से प्रसिद्ध हजरत नाहरशाह वली की दरगाह मध्यप्रदेश के इंदौर शहर मेंं खजराना नामक स्थान पर है । इंदौर के पूर्वी तरफ एक ऊंचे मनोरम स्थान पर हिन्दू-मुुस्लिम एकता के प्रतीक खजराना में दोनो धर्म के प्रसिद्ध ऐतिहासिक धर्मस्थल है ।

आज से 350 बरस पहले खजराना जंगल था । घने जंगल मे एक ऊँचे टीले पर मुस्लिम संत इबादत करते। जंगली जानवर जैसे शेर वगैरह भी आकर संत के पास बैठ जाते । नाहर (शेर) को बैठा देख गाँव के लोग संत को नाहरवाले बाबा पुकारते , इस तरह संत का नाम नाहरशाह पड़ा । आसपास इमली के ढेरों पेड़ थे। आज भी कुछ पेड़ बाकी हैं । यही इनका निवास स्थान था । मृत्यु के बाद नाहरशाह वली को इसी स्थान पर दफ़नाया गया। उस स्थान पर बाद में दरगाह का निर्माण हुआ। इस्लामी कैलेंडर रबी अल-अव्वल की 13 तारीख को हजरत नाहरशाह वली रह0 ने पर्दा फरमाया। नाहरशाह वली की मृत्यु के बाद उनके जनाजे की नमाज मुगल बादशाह औरंगजेब ने पढ़ाई। हजरत नाहरशाह वली का इतिहास लिखने वाले जावेद शाह ने बताया कि इंदौर की पहचान सर्वधर्म सदभाव और आपसी भाईचारा से है । अपने अंदर इतिहास समेटे हुए करीब 300 साल पुराना ये शहर आधुनिक और पुरातन दोनों की झलक लिए भारत के सबसे स्वच्छ शहरों में पहले नम्बर पर है । खजराना में बरसों से इंसानियत के अलमदार पीर-फकीरों का आवागमन रहा है ।

परमारकालीन खजराना राजा भोज के समय से 1000 साल से आज भी वजूद में है। दिल्ली के हजरत निज़ामुद्दीन औलिया और अजमेर के ख्वाज़ा गरीब नवाज के दरबार आम में देशी-विदेशी और सभी मजहब के नर-नारी , नेता- अभिनेता बिना भेदभाव से हिस्सा लेते है और अपनी मुरादों की चादर चढ़ाते हैं।

ठीक उसी प्रकार खजराना की प्राचीन नाहरशाह वली की मुकद्दस दरगाह पर भी हर मजहब के मर्द-औरतों के अलावा किन्नरों भी हाजरी देने आते है।

कहते है हजरत नाहरशाह वली इराक से चलकर यहां आए। उन्हें यहां का खूबसूरत वातावरण भा गया। यही रहने लगे। खजराना के आसपास का इलाका सरहदी रास्ता था । मुंबई-आगरा राजमार्ग के नजदीक बसा खजराना कम्पेल परगना की जागीर था। कम्पेल के चौधरी जमींदार मुगलों को रसद पहुँचाने का काम करते। खजराना के आसपास मुगलों के पड़ाव होते रहते । जब मुगल बादशाह औरंगजेब को इसकी जानकारी मिली कि अल्लाह के किसी वली का जिस्म-ऐ-मुबारक़ बिना दफन के करीब 3 महीने से रखा हुआ है । नाहरशाह वली के साथियों के बुलावे पर औरंगजेब खजराना आए।
