Chandrampalli Reservoir, located in Kalaburagi district's Chincholi taluk in the serene village of Chandrampalli, is a breathtaking natural spot perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Nestled amid lush mountains that serve as its primary water source, the reservoir is a harmonious blend of scenic landscapes, tranquil waters, and rich wildlife, making it a hidden gem worth exploring.

Natural Beauty and Surroundings

The charm of Chandrampalli Reservoir lies in its peaceful surroundings. Encircled by verdant hills, it offers an impressive view of mountains and greenery, presenting visitors with a mesmerizing panorama at every turn. These natural barriers not only contribute to the reservoir's water levels but also create an undisturbed, calm environment that attracts those seeking solitude and a break from city life. The untouched landscapes are perfect for photography, leisurely walks, or simply sitting back and absorbing the sights and sounds of nature.

Wildlife and Aquatic Life β™’

Adding to the reservoir's appeal is its unique aquatic ecosystem. The reservoir is home to various fish 🐟 species, making it a spot of interest for fishing enthusiasts who come to experience the thrill of fishing in natural waters. Crocodiles 🐊 also inhabit the reservoir, which may sound adventurous for some but is a feature that adds a certain wilderness charm to the place. The sighting of crocodiles, although rare, emphasizes the need to respect and remain cautious around this natural habitat.

Activities and Recreational Opportunities

Chandrampalli Reservoir offers multiple recreational options. The peaceful waters invite visitors to try boating or rafting, with the calm currents making these activities relaxing and enjoyable. For those interested in hiking, the surrounding hills provide a chance to explore rugged terrains, climb small peaks, and enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the reservoir. Camping is also a popular activity, especially for families and groups looking to spend a night under the stars in a natural setting.

Ideal Time to Visit

The best time to visit the Chandrampalli Reservoir is during the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons when the water levels are high, and the greenery around is at its peak. During these times, the reservoir becomes especially picturesque, with the hills and forests fully alive with flora and fauna. Cooler temperatures and occasional mist add to the beauty, making it a perfect escape during these months.

Accessibility and Facilities

While Chandrampalli Reservoir is accessible by road from Kalaburagi and nearby towns, the lack of commercialization preserves its pristine state. However, this also means limited facilities on-site. Visitors are advised to bring their own essentials, including food and water, especially if planning to spend the day or camp overnight. It’s a good idea to visit in groups and arrange for a local guide who can help navigate the area, especially for those new to the terrain or wanting a deeper exploration.

Chandrampalli Reservoir is an underrated destination that offers a perfect mix of natural beauty, wildlife, and recreational activities, making it ideal for nature enthusiasts, photographers, and those looking to escape into the wild. Its mountainous surroundings, serene waters, and the presence of diverse fauna create an authentic natural experience, making it a must-visit for anyone traveling to the Kalaburagi district. Just remember to respect the natural habitat and take necessary precautions around wildlife for a safe and memorable experience.

Here there are two places to visit The dam itself - ifyou have come with a family you can a good picnic spot , there are manmade places to sit n have your lunch ! Gottamgutta hills - which is exactly opposite to bridge , it's around 6 -8 kms from bridge , if you like to trek than this is the place for you ! You got to walk around 5-6 Kms the reservoir ( during rainy days ) or you can cross the waters ( during summer days ) to reach the hill n then your trek starts which is approx 0.5-1 kms uphill n on reaching the top you will see a village there and a temple , people are quite friendly over there !

The pictures are from gottamgutta hills ( there is still half way to complete the trek ) and the place where I point is the Chandrampalli dam bridge ;)

P.s - Bring the lunch with you or some eatables are the nearest place for a lunch is far away And don't pollute the place...

This place is around 1 hr drive from zaheerabad. (Near karnataka border) The route is through the villages. Roads are ok not great expect little bumpy ride. There is nothing much to do here apart from enjoying the picturesque beauty of the surrounding mountains & lake. One can sit, relax - enjoy the calmness of the place. The water is deep & clean and spread out vast as can be seen in pics. It is a very old built dam with 2-3 gates. Gates are hardly opened. This place has a lot of potential to be developed as a tourist destination. Activites like boating, restaurant etc. can be opened. Also, one can hike to the hill top to have a birds eye view of the place. Other places to visit if time permits : Ethipotala Falls & Chincholi wildlife Sanctuary ( each 1 hr drive) Pls carry enough food since there are absolutely no good restaurants/eateries after you cross...
