One of the beutiful treks around Bengaluru and is good for beginners to start with as it is not very taxing and provides beautiful views.
The trek originates from a village temple. The village itself is located at higher pedestal therefore cuts down the climb required to reach the summit.
While travelling on NH 75 from Bengaluru towards Mangalore one has to leave highway around 20 to 25 kms from Neelamanagla. After leaving NH 75 the direction signs on the road would guide you to the parking lot.
The parking, next to a temple, is not huge and can accommodate only eight to ten vehicles at a time. Only cars/ SUVs can reach here to parking site easily, Tempo traveller buses etc may be parked at the entrance of village. One can find huge open space just at the entrance of village and in case one reaches late ( after 7 am ) on Sundays better park ones vehicle at the entrance only because parking may be full.
The trek has been made easy by carving out the steps from the rock, new steps have been carved out are small in step height thus makes it comfortable while climbing and coming back. The old wall of the fort exists at many places and provides a beautiful backdrop. One can see many gate like structures indicating gaurd check points on the route.
The trek passes through bushes and one will find greenery and high shrubs and bushes during rainy season. First destination is the temple at the top. One needs to be in full sleeve shirt/ top to protect from shrubs/ bushes.
The temple at the first destination is a comparatively bigger, one can see a water collection point next the temple and few dilipadated structure. The views from this place of the village ( from where you started) are very nice. One can spend some time here and then commence second leg.
The second leg is not a long trek however goes through green surroundings giving a beautiful feel. Aa you reach in open at the top the views are very nice. Huge rocks gives a good backdrops for snaps. One can spend some time here and enjoy the surroundings.
The return journey is very comfortable and finishes in lesser time.
One has to carry few eating options and one to two liters of water. Sun is quite hot so better to commence the trek as early as possible. Carry cap/ shades to protect from sun. Preferably wear trekking shoes to have a better grip.
Overall a easy trek, good for beginners, overall a...
Read moreIf you’re craving an adventure that mixes history, spirituality, and breathtaking scenery, Huthridurga Fort is an absolute must-visit! Tucked away in the rugged hills of Karnataka, this hidden gem offers a thrilling trek that’s as challenging as it is rewarding, testing both your physical fitness and mental resolve. The climb to the top is no small feat—it took us between 40 minutes to an hour, and it’s a real test of endurance. The rocky paths, steep slopes, and winding trails demand high physical stamina and mental grit. My tip? Don’t tackle it alone—bring some lively company to keep your spirits up. And make sure to carry plenty of fluids—water, energy drinks—and snacks to power through. You’ll thank yourself midway! Reaching the summit feels like a triumph, and the rewards are incredible. The fort itself is a silent witness to history, its ancient stones echoing stories of the past. At the very top, you’ll find a tranquil spiritual temple—a peaceful oasis that feels almost otherworldly after the grueling ascent. Standing there, with the wind brushing past, you can’t help but feel a deep sense of calm and connection. The scenic beauty is the cherry on top. From the summit, you’re treated to jaw-dropping panoramic views—lush green hills rolling into the horizon, sprinkled with forests and tiny villages, all beneath a vast, open sky. It’s a sight that makes every aching muscle worth it. But here’s a word of caution: time your visit carefully. The first time I went, I arrived at 4:30 PM, and the villagers warned me about leopards prowling the area after dark. Realizing it’d be dusk by the time I’d reach the top—and the descent would be risky—I decided to turn back home and save the trek for another day. Those big cats are no joke, so plan to start early and avoid lingering past sunset. Safety first! Huthridurga Fort isn’t just a trek—it’s an epic journey that pushes your limits and leaves you with unforgettable memories of nature, history, and serenity. So gear up, gather your crew, stock up on hydration and energy boosters, and embark on this wild adventure. Just make sure to beat the clock—and...
Read moreA walk above the clouds!! Supposed to be one of the nava durg forts around bangalore, this one is really awesome. The fort is on top of a little hill which is accessible by car... the road is not that great but manageable. there is a small village establishment at the base of the hill from which you can start your trek. Since this fort is on top of a hill, its altitude is high and if you are there early if the morning, the whole place is engulfed in mist. infact you cannot see the ground from top, just fog / cloud, whatever you want to call it but it just feels that you are at a place above the clouds. About the trek its not too difficult, for 3/4th of the part there are steps cut in rocks and the fort follows a pattern. Once you enter a door, keep walking to your left, you will find the path to climb up. And another thing unique about the fort is the path is engulfed in vegetation. so from a distance, its impossible to tell that there is a path till you go near the vegetation. then you will have to walk your way through the plants. so make sure you wear full sleeves shirts to avoid contact with all the plants incase you are allergic. infact once inside the first wall, we were clueless how to proceed till we saw a cartoon figure pointing to the right... walked upto the bushes and then found the path. Overall, the trek up should be about 2km or less and for the last stretch to reach the temple, you will have to walk through grass close to 6ft tall. if you are really adventurous, instead of taking right to the temple, take the left and keep going ahead through the grass, there is a path to take you to the back side of the hill top where the views are great. Its does get hot after 9:30 or 10 in the morning, so carry enough water. overall its a great place for a quick trek and once of a...
