This is more of a guide than review. This is a beginner level trek to arguably one of the most beautiful falls in the Udupi area. It’s easier than the nearby Belkal teertha falls trek.

Place is exactly 11KM from Shiroor off the NH, the last 2KM being mud road. There’s plenty of parking at the base for cars and bikes. Set Kallaniki Koosalli as destination on Maps.

Trek starts almost immediately and goes through undulating terrain for the most part. The initial part is actually quite relaxing. Only as you get closer to the falls that the ascent begins, though it’s not too steep.

You’ll first arrive at the base of the falls, which has a huge open area to sit and relax. Since this is a step waterfall, there’s more at the top if you’re willing to trek some more through steep terrain. The path to the top is on the right side of the waterfalls. You might reach a point where it may seem like a dead end but keep going to the left and after 5 more minutes of trekking downhill you should arrive at the top of the falls.

The top of the falls is a real sight to behold with a large pool of water that has formed beneath the waterfall. Pool isn’t that deep and one may feel the urge to dive in for a cool refreshing swim. Go for it!

It’s advisable to start early in the morning as the sun comes up and it gets quite hot past noon. Pack some light snacks and enough water for the entire journey, something that we ran out of!

In closing, do try this trek with nature lovers. Best time to visit is Nov-Feb after the rains. There’s much beauty to be appreciated in the Western ghats....

The fabulous picnic spot, Koosalli waterfalls is located near Koosalli village in Kundapura. A series of six falls, one above the other, in splendid surroundings makes it one of the best waterfalls in the state. The combined height of all six falls is about 380 ft. The foliage around the spot is attractive. The best time to visit is from September to November. This virgin and unspoiled spot is near Shirooru, which is 76 km from Udupi on NH 17 towards Karwar. Kundapura is about 36 km from Udupi.

At a distance of 45 Kms from Murudeshwar, 95 Kms from Udupi & 20 Kms from Shiroor (on Udupi - Karwar road), Koosalli Waterfalls is a magnificent waterfall located in deep forest near Koosalli village. The waterfall is 20 Kms from Shiroor via Toodalli (also known as Soodalli) and 5 Kms from Koosalli village.

Koosalli Waterfalls is a 6 step cascading waterfall dropping from a height of 380 feet. One has to trek for 5 Kms from Koosalli through dense forest which also includes difficult rock climbing in order to reach the falls (2 Hrs trek from Koosalli village one-way). This place is highly dangerous during monsoons when the rocks become slippery.

Nov - Dec is the best time to trek this place. Koosalli can be reached from...

First three falls are little smaller and remaining three falls are gorgeous. Especially, the sixth fall is awesome with a height...

The falls is a very serene and beautiful waterfall, entailing 3 layers of cascading water. The surrounding greenery simply enhances the beauty of the vicinity. Not too crowded, even on a weekend. The road leading to the falls from Thoodalli village is pretty convenient to walk as well as drive, despite being a raw mud road. At the checkpost manned by a single forest department personnel, adults are expected to shell out 100 INR and 50 INR for kids. However, no amenities of any kind are provided or seen along the way to the falls or even at the actual falls. One would expect something like restrooms or at least changing rooms for ladies to be made available for the convenience of the visitors.

One of The beautiful falls located deep inside The forest... Route...u need to take a diversion from NH highway in shiroor and ride for around 8 kms to toodalli village...after crossing The village u have to ride around 2 kms in mud road(concrete road construction is under process) after that u will find a sign board for koosalli falls...u have to park the vehicles and trek for around 3 kms...The trek route is moderate and clear path is visible throughout the route...u can enjoy The crystal clear water. Please do not litter. Bring back all The things which u carried.
