Just came back from an unforgettable safari adventure in Nagarhole National Park, and let me tell you, it was incredible! For any animal lover, this is a must-do experience. We spotted a vast array of creatures, from majestic elephants to colorful birds.

Animal Encounters Galore: Elephants in their natural habitat! Seeing these gentle giants roam free was a humbling experience. Powerful gaurs grazing on the side of the road - the largest wild bovines in India, they're truly impressive. Deers galore! We saw spotted deer, barking deer, and even the majestic sambar deer. Wild boars adding a touch of wildness to the landscape. Adorable Malabar giant squirrels with their vibrant fur were a delight to watch. And a symphony of birds! Peacocks displaying their feathers were a particular highlight. Tips: Aim for the first safari at 6 am: Park rangers say it's the prime time for animal activity. Binoculars are your friend! Get a closer look at these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Dress comfortably for the safari. It can get very cold on the morning safari. Be patient and enjoy the ride! Wildlife sightings are about chance encounters, so relax and take it all in.

Cost Considerations: Keep in mind there are park entry fees. The good news is, ours was quite reasonable! Tickets are per person, and there's a separate charge for cameras based on the focal length of your lens. For two adults and a camera with a 200mm lens, our total cost was around 1700 rupees, which we felt was well worth the experience.

Overall: Nagarhole National Park Safari is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the rich wildlife of India. With a little planning and the right attitude, you might just have an unforgettable encounter with nature, just...

We did a jeep sunrise tour - the experience sadly felt a wee bit empty and a bit of a money churner. The staff seemed quite disorganised, not welcoming at all, and didn’t feel like they cared much about the holistic experience for the visitor. A very brief introduction to the reserve, history and management would have been welcomed - however we came away knowing no more about the reserve itself.

The reserve however is a very beautiful place to be and see, and it was lovely to be there at sunrise. Very tranquil and magical as the mist lifted through the forest habitats as the sun rose and shone through the trees. It felt very reminiscent for us, with the same feel as an ancient temperate woodland - which we are familiar with from home.

The three stars are for the place itself - the beautiful pregnant (cow) elephant eating serenely that we saw, and which was an absolutely joy and emotional sight to see. We also saw a pack of wild dogs and large numbers of the spotted deer groups, alongside listening and seeing the varied birdlife.

The jeep clatters noisily about for the hour, so it was amazing we saw anything and that the elephant wasn’t seemingly disturbed by us. The clattering jeep makes it harder to see / hear the bird life - although we did stop once or twice briefly - which gave us more of an opportunity.

Just hope the whole safari fee goes entirely back into conserving the reserve.

It’s a worthwhile place to visit due to the habitats present, just a shame about the disinterested staffing manner and lack of care for the visitor experience. Also would be worthwhile trying to electrify the jeep fleet for noise and air pollution considerations on the habitats and the wildlife and the...
