Purdal Dam — Local services in Karnataka

Purdal dam and its surroundings are full of greenery. It is about 10 Kms from Shivamogga. It comes under Shettihalli Wild Life Sanctuary. From the entry to damsite, road is not good because no construction are allowed inside the sanctuary. Yesterday, we had been there and our second grand daughter cut her birthday cake in the serene atmosphere.The water level in the dam was upto the brim. There is no amenities for the tourist. Purdal Dam is a calm and quiet place near Shivamogga. It is about 9 km away from the city. The area is full of greenery and looks very peaceful.Not many people go there, so it is a nice spot to relax. The road to the dam is also beautiful. You can go there for a short trip or a picnic.There are no shops near the dam, so it is good to carry water and snacks. Puradal dam lies around 7 km from the main busstand which is very convenient for anyone to go for small ride or quick picnic. Since the road is better now.. it's easy for two wheelers also. Good to go and have lunch or teatime snack with family. But since localities have a taken a strict measure to not allow alcohols and other kind of mischevious activities...beware young fellas. Enjoy sunrises here and makes it a best place...
