Ambattukadavu, a scenic destination near Kottayam in Kerala, is a breathtaking spectacle best known for its seasonal bloom of vibrant pink water lilies. During and after the monsoon season, from roughly August to December, the flooded paddy fields are entirely transformed into a stunning "pink lagoon" that attracts crowds of photographers and nature enthusiasts. The lilies, known locally as Aambal, bloom in vast numbers, creating a mesmerizing carpet of color across the serene backwaters. For the most magical view, visitors flock to the fields in the early morning, before the blossoms begin to close with the midday sun. This natural phenomenon has led to the growth of "water lily tourism," and locals often provide boat services to take visitors deeper into the fields for a closer, immersive experience. While the larger-scale display is also seen in nearby Malarikkal, Ambattukadavu offers its own peaceful, rural charm. The annual bloom not only provides a visual treat but also an opportunity to support the local community, which benefits from the seasonal influx of visitors. It's a prime example of nature's simple beauty creating a profound and celebrated impact on a quiet...

It was 3 years of desire to go to this place after seeing many Instagram posts and wedding photography in the lily field. Each year due to some reason it got delayed, it was almost like I was about to miss out 2020 too due to covid. When I browsed they had mentioned that malarikal is not open for tourism and then I came across this place. Ambattukadavu is in kottayam district. We started in the early morning itself from kochi. The flowers blossom at night and stands tall until sunrise so one should should be in the place between 6-8 am in the morning to see the water lily. It was literally heaven on earth feel to see the pink water lilies spread over acres of paddy field. The wait for years was truly worth the soulful sight of...

October to December is the Ambal or Lilly fest and you don't want to miss this alluring and blooming beauty of Ambal field (pink and white). You can see a paradise for photographers especially for wedding shoots. When you reach there you can take a trip in local boats which charges 100 rupees per head for one hour but its worth and breathtaking. Try to reach there as early 6 O'clock to see the confluence of sunrise and the Lilly Blooming the way. Water lillies bloomed in a 100 acre field in Ambattukadavu at Panachikkad in Kottayam. Now the Lilly field is open for tourists since there was strict lockdown few months ago. (...
