One of best offbeat oneday trek around Pune. Parking is at Dhamanhol village. Very small village. Avoid to Lavasa entry gate to reach Dhamanhol bcz they charge highly for car 500/_ and bike 200/_ for no reason. You can go via varasagaon dam backwater to dhamanhol village. Carry food and Water. From base to fort two hours are sufficient. Not hectic. You can't see fort from the village. Trek towards a watch tower structure. Then your are at the edge. Then take right and get down and take left towards the fort from dense forest. Getting diwn is risky and while returning hike can be tiring. This part is very risky in rainy season. There are waterfalls in the rainy season. Once you reach is in open space you can see Kurdudevi temple. Then last hike part start of 20 min. On the fort the natural caves is fascinating. Then go further to the baston. Then take sharp right hike. Reach on top. Rock arch is beautiful.

A Small Fort which was used to watch over lingya ghat, dev ghat, tamhini ghat. Not many people go there. There are 2 water cisterns on the fort, 1 Nedh , 3-4 Burujs, 1 Maruti Idol. There is 1 Cave which is approx 50 ft ├Ч 200 ft and 6 ft in height. It is said that it can accommodate up to 500 people. There is a small temple of kurdai devi at the base of fort. Veergal is on the front of the temple. It will take 15-20 mins to go on the top of the fort. It is said that Veer Baji Pasalkar used to get rest here, hence the fort is also known as VISHRAMGAD. We went from Lingya Waterfall Side, We used the Nisanicha Ghat , it took us 1.5 hr to fort as the ghat gets slippery in the rainy season. It took 1 hr to come back .

We started our journey from Lavasa and parked our vehicle at Bombay Point helipad. From Bombay point we took a guide from village to go to fort . This tracking is not for people who have height fovea. The path has up and down which are some time almost 45 degrees inclined. Must visit this place to see wonderful scenery. This is lifetime experience which you cannot purchase with money.

Kurdugad Fort, also known as Vishramgad, is a hidden gem nestled in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. For history enthusiasts and trekking aficionados alike, this fort offers a perfect blend of adventure and cultural significance.

Located near the village of Jambhulpada, Kurdugad Fort is relatively lesser-known, which adds to its charm. The journey to the fort begins with a scenic drive through the lush green landscapes of the Sahyadri ranges. The trek itself is moderately easy, making it accessible for beginners and seasoned trekkers. The trail, winding through dense forests and rocky patches, is a nature lover's delight. The fort is situated at an altitude that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

KurdugadтАЩs historical significance is rooted in its connection to the Maratha Empire. Although the fort is now in ruins, the remnants of ancient fortifications, water tanks, and a temple dedicated to the local deity tell tales of its glorious past. The fort served as a strategic watchtower during its time, given its vantage point.

What makes Kurdugad Fort truly special is its peaceful environment. Unlike other popular forts in Maharashtra, Kurdugad remains untouched by commercialization, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the tranquility and raw beauty of the place. The experience of exploring this fort is akin to stepping back in time, with the added thrill of uncovering its secrets one stone at a time.

In conclusion, Kurdugad Fort is a must-visit for those who appreciate history, nature, and a good trek. Whether you are looking for a weekend escape from the city or a new destination to explore in the Sahyadris, Kurdugad will...

This fort was an important fort in Kolhapur district as a watch over for the trade route from Pune to coastal ports. The fort is surrounded by thick forest and hill slopes. There is one dilapidated Kurdai devi temple in the village Pethwadi. There are two pinnacles on the fort. There are two water cisterns on the fort which retain water even during dry summer season. The best time to visit the fort is from November to February.[3]

The nearest town is Kolad which is 125 km from Mumbai. The base village of the fort is Jite which is 25 km from the taluka place Mangaon. The fort can also be trekked from Dhamanwal village. It takes about 2 hours to reach the fort from the base village. The route is very safe and passes through dense jungle. It takes about one and a half hours to reach the tribal Katkari village called Pethwadi. From Pethwadi it is a steep climb of half an hour to reach the entrance gate of the fort.[3] There is no water at the fort so, the night stay on the fort can not be made. The villagers from Pethwadi and Jite make night stay and food arrangements at...
