Kurdugad Fort ( Marathi: कुर्डूगड किल्ला ) is a fort located 143 km (89 mi) from Mumbai and 113km from Pune in Raigad district, of Maharashtra. This fort was an important fort in Kolhapur district as a watch over for the trade route from Pune to coastal ports. The fort is surrounded by thick forest and hill slopes.There is one dilapidated Kurdai devi temple in the village Pethwadi. There are two pinnacles on the fort. There are two water cisterns on the fort which retain water even during dry summer season. The best time to visit the fort is from November to February.[3]

The nearest town is Kolad which is 125 km from Mumbai. The base village of the fort is Jite which is 25 km from the taluka place Mangaon. The fort can also be trekked from Dhamanwal village. It takes about 2 hours to reach the fort from the base village. The route is very safe and passes through dense jungle. It takes about one and a half hours to reach the tribal Katkari village called Pethwadi. सह्याद्री डोंगररांगांमुळे महाराष्ट्राचे कोकण किनारपट्टी सह्याद्रीची रांग व त्यावरील पठार किंवा घाटमाथा असे तीन भाग पडले आहेत. येथील राज्यकर्त्यांचा प्राचीन काळापासून परदेशासी व्यापार चाले. कोकण किनारपट्टीवर उतरणारा माल विविध घाटमार्गांनी घाटमाथ्यावरील बाजारपेठांमध्ये जात असे. त्यामुळे या परिसरात संपन्न बंदरे, शहरे, बाजारपेठा तयार झाल्या. त्याकाळी वापरण्यात येणारी शिडांची गलबते समुद्रातून खाडी मार्गे नदीत आतपर्यंत येत. भिर्याला ऊगम पावणारी कुंडलिका नदी अरबी समुद्राला कोर्लई जवळ मिळते. प्राचीन काळा पासून कुंडलिका नदीतून व्यापार चालत असे. घाटावर जाणारा माल विविध (ताम्हणी, थळ घाट इत्यादी) घाटमार्गंनी घाटमाथ्यावरील बाजारपेठेत जात असे. या व्यापारी मार्गांचे रक्षण करण्यासाठी बंदर, घाटमार्ग व घाटमाथा अशी किल्ल्यांची साखळी उभारली जात असे. ताम्हणी घाटाचे रक्षण करण्यासाठी कुर्डुगड (विश्रामगड) हा किल्ला बांधण्यात आला होता. पहाण्याची ठिकाणे : कुर्डुगडाचे स्थान हे फार मोक्याच्या ठिकाणी आहे. पुण्याहून कोकणात उतरणार्या ताम्हणी घाटाच्या वेशीवरच हा किल्ला आहे. किल्ल्याच्या3 पायथ्याशी कुर्डाई देवीचे मंदिर आहे. किल्ल्याच्या प्रवेशव्दाराच्या अगोदर डाव्या बाजूला पाण्याच टाक आहे. कातळात खोदलेल्या पायर्या चढुन उध्वस्त प्रवेशव्दारातून आपला किल्ल्यावर प्रवेश होतो. किल्ल्याचा सर्वोच्च माथा म्हणजे एक सुळकाच आहे. प्रवेशव्दारातून आत शिरल्यावर प्रथम एका उध्वस्त वास्तूचा चौथरा दिसतो. त्याच्या समोर १ मीटर उंचीची हनुमान मूर्ती आपल्या नजरेस पडते. या हनुमानाने आपल्या पायाखाली पनवतीला जखडून ठेवलेले आहे. मुर्तीच्या पुढे एक निसर्गनिर्मीत घळ आहे. यात १०० ते १५० माणसे सहज बसू शकतील. किल्ल्यातच दोन भलेमोठे सुळके आहेत आणि हा भलामोठा सुळका म्हणजेच गडमाथा होय. सुळक्याला पूर्ण फेरी मारता येते, पण काही ठिकाणी वाट पूर्णपणे ढासळलेली आहे. गुहे पासून सुळका उजव्या हाताला ठेवत सुळक्याला वळसा घालुन पुढे गेल्यावर दोन सुळक्यांच्या मधला भाग तटबंदी बांधुन संरक्षित केलेला दिसतो. आजही तेथिल तटबंदी शाबूत आहे. तटबंदी पाहून सुळक्याला वळसा घालून पुढे गेल्यावर एक प्रचंड दरड कोसळलेली दिसते. या दरडीमुळे पुढे जाण्याची वाट अडवलेली आहे. येथून पुढे जाणे धोकादायक आहे. दरड व मुख्य सुळका यांच्या मधे असलेल्या छोट्याश्या अरुंद खाचेतून सरपटत पलिकडे जावे लागते. पुढेही अरूंद पायवाटेवरून बाजूच्या दगडाला पकडत पुढे जावे लागते. एका बाजूला दरी असल्याने बरोबर रोप असल्यास हा भाग पार करावा. अन्यथा आल्या मार्गाने परत जाऊन हनुमानाच्या मुर्तीपाशी याव. तेथुन सुळका डाव्या हाताला ठेवत सुळक्याला वळसा घालुन पुढे गेल्यावर एक पाण्याच टाक दिसत. पाण्याच्या टाक्यापुढेच दरड कोसळलेली पाहायला मिळते. हे टाक पाहून प्रवेशव्दारापाशी आल्यावर आपली दुर्गफ़ेरी पूर्ण होते. किल्ल्यावरुन संपूर्ण कोकण परिसर न्याहळता येतो. संपूर्ण गडमाथा फिरण्यास अर्धा तास पुरतो. ⛳पोहोचण्याच्या वाटा : मुंबई -पनवेल - पेण मार्गे मुंबई- गोवा महामार्गावरील कोलाड गाव (१२० किमी) गाठावे. कोलाड गावाच्या पुढे डाव्याबाजुला ताम्हणी घाटमार्गे पुण्याला जाणारा रस्ता आहे तो पकडावा. ताम्हणी घाटाच्या अगोदर वरचीवाडी गाव आहे. तेथे मुख्य रस्ता सोडुन उजव्या बाजुला बागड गावाला जाणारा रस्ता पकडावा. हा रस्ता बागड एम आय डी सी - तासगाव - कांदळगाव- बामणवाडी मार्गे किल्ल्याच्या पायथ्याच्या जिते गावात जातो. जिते गावातून साधारणपणे २ ते २.३० तास चालल्यावर आपण चार सहा घरांच्या वाडी जवळ पोहोचतो. येथे शाळा आहे. वाडीतून ३० मिनिटात आपण गडाच्या...
