Just do it. Just climb Salher fort , at least one time. Highest peak after Kalsubai mountain. I know you will not find more remains of forts but it's worth seeing everything that is remaining. Also they are building some structures again. So you can see many things. Camping is recommended. I'm recommending camping beacuse you can visit Salota fort also. There is no need of permission to camp at top but sometimes they don't allow camping. So you must ask forrest workers who collects fees. Around 30 to 35 rupees they charge to climb. This fort has many caves in which you can stay. Night sky looks so beautiful from top of the fort in winter and starting of the Summer. If you are travelling from Malegaon or Nasik then I recommend four wheeler and if you are travelling from Deola Or Satana two wheeler is ok too. Roads are good till Tahrabad (sometimes they are not). After that damaged roads take speed in their hands. Roads are mostly damaged after Tahrabad because of heavy rain. So check the road conditions when you plan to go. If you are going to climb from village Waghambe then you need to walk around 2 to 2.5 kms and then climb the fort. You visit 6 doors from bottom to top. You can see nice view of Salota fort from one of the door. If you are going to climb from salher wadi area then you can ride your vehicle little on top and then you can climb. Parking is available. If you are trying to reach salher wadi path then you must see the board for Ganpati mandir and then after some distance you will see gate for fort. You can also climb from Ganpati mandir, parking is also available there. You visit 6 doors here too. On top there is temple of Lord Parshuram. Non slippery shoes is recommended.
