Title: Salher Fort, Baglan: A Majestic Journey into History Introduction: Embarking on a journey to explore the historical wonders of Maharashtra, I found myself standing in awe at the magnificent Salher Fort in Baglan. This hidden gem tucked away in the Sahyadri mountain range offers a captivating experience that blends adventure, history, and natural beauty. Join me as I recount my unforgettable expedition to Salher Fort. Day 1: Trekking to Salher Fort The adventure began with an invigorating trek to reach the fort. The trail was well-marked and offered breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and lush green landscapes. As I ascended, the panoramic vistas became more captivating with each step. The trek was moderately challenging, with a few steep stretches, but the reward of reaching the summit was well worth the effort. Reaching the Summit: As I reached the summit, I was greeted by the imposing structure of Salher Fort. Its towering walls and ancient architecture spoke volumes about its historical significance. The panoramic views from the fort were simply mesmerizing. I could see the sprawling Sahyadri range stretching into the distance, with valleys and rivers adding to the picturesque setting. Exploring the Fort: I ventured into the fort, guided by a local expert who shared intriguing stories and historical anecdotes. The fort's intricate design and well-preserved structures showcased the architectural brilliance of its time. From the majestic entrance gates to the deep wells and granaries, each section of the fort told a tale of its glorious past. Standing atop the ramparts, I imagined the fort in its prime, guarding the region against invasions. Cultural Immersion: Salher Fort also provided a unique opportunity to delve into the local culture and traditions. I had the chance to interact with the friendly locals, who shared their insights into the fort's history and the legends associated with it. The warm hospitality and their willingness to share their knowledge added a special touch to the experience. Camping under the Stars: To complete my adventure, I decided to spend the night camping near the fort. The starry sky above, the cool breeze, and the tranquil ambiance made it a truly magical experience. The campfire, accompanied by local folk music and delicious traditional cuisine, created an authentic atmosphere that allowed me to unwind and reflect on the day's adventures. Conclusion: Salher Fort in Baglan is a treasure trove of history, adventure, and natural beauty. The trek to the fort, the awe-inspiring views, the exploration of its ancient structures, and the immersion into local culture all combine to create an unforgettable experience. If you are a history enthusiast, adventure seeker, or simply in search of an offbeat destination, Salher Fort should definitely be on your list. It will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime, as it did for me.

Just do it. Just climb Salher fort , at least one time. Highest peak after Kalsubai mountain. I know you will not find more remains of forts but it's worth seeing everything that is remaining. Also they are building some structures again. So you can see many things. Camping is recommended. I'm recommending camping beacuse you can visit Salota fort also. There is no need of permission to camp at top but sometimes they don't allow camping. So you must ask forrest workers who collects fees. Around 30 to 35 rupees they charge to climb. This fort has many caves in which you can stay. Night sky looks so beautiful from top of the fort in winter and starting of the Summer. If you are travelling from Malegaon or Nasik then I recommend four wheeler and if you are travelling from Deola Or Satana two wheeler is ok too. Roads are good till Tahrabad (sometimes they are not). After that damaged roads take speed in their hands. Roads are mostly damaged after Tahrabad because of heavy rain. So check the road conditions when you plan to go. If you are going to climb from village Waghambe then you need to walk around 2 to 2.5 kms and then climb the fort. You visit 6 doors from bottom to top. You can see nice view of Salota fort from one of the door. If you are going to climb from salher wadi area then you can ride your vehicle little on top and then you can climb. Parking is available. If you are trying to reach salher wadi path then you must see the board for Ganpati mandir and then after some distance you will see gate for fort. You can also climb from Ganpati mandir, parking is also available there. You visit 6 doors here too. On top there is temple of Lord Parshuram. Non slippery shoes is recommended. Take refreshments with you . Total trek takes 2 to 2.30 hours without stop. Take care of fuel refilling.
