Mt. Saramati scaled at 3840m, highest non-himalayan point in India and highest point in Nagaland State. Trek for this peak starts from Village called Thanamir. Which has road connectivity from Pungro Town. People going from Kohima side can reach Pungro Town and then to Thanamir. Guest house options are available in both Pungro Town and Thanamir. Pungro Town to Thanamir is 38kms and need at least 2hrs drive. Saramati trek is of two days. Day 01: Thanamir(2100m) to Base Camp(3000m) 10kms and 900m Altitude gain with many mountains up and down around 6hra it will take.. Day 02: Base camp to Mt. Saramati top(3840m) 5kms and around 3hrs time. Gain is around 800m. Top to Camp and return to Thanamir.. It will be around 30kms strenuous trek but it's worth it We visited this in late Dec 2018. It wasn't snowing there but water in streams were frozen. temp goes sub zero even in Thanamir.
