Read moreSula Vineyards in Nashik is one of India’s most famous and picturesque wineries, offering a delightful experience for wine lovers and tourists alike. My visit to Sula was an immersive journey through vineyards, wine-making processes, tastings, and stunning landscapes.
Location and Ambience
Located in the heart of India’s wine country, Sula Vineyards is easily accessible from Nashik city. As soon as we arrived, the vast greenery and neatly lined vineyards welcomed us, creating a serene and refreshing atmosphere. The estate is well-maintained, with a perfect blend of nature and modernity. The open spaces, scenic views of the Western Ghats, and the pleasant weather added to the charm of the place.
The architecture of the winery is elegant and inviting. The tasting room, restaurants, and resort areas are designed with a mix of rustic charm and contemporary style. There are open terraces where you can sit, relax, and enjoy a glass of wine while overlooking the vineyards.
Wine Tour and Tasting Experience
One of the highlights of the visit was the guided wine tour. The tour began with an introduction to Sula’s history and its journey in revolutionizing the Indian wine industry. The guide explained the different varieties of grapes grown here, including Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chenin Blanc.
We were then taken to the wine-making section, where we learned about the fermentation, aging, and bottling process. The giant stainless steel tanks and oak barrels used for aging the wines were fascinating to see. The guide was knowledgeable and explained the differences between red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines.
The best part of the tour was the wine tasting session. We got to sample six different wines, each with a unique flavor profile. The guide taught us the proper way to taste wine—observing the color, swirling the glass, sniffing the aroma, and then taking a sip to experience the flavors. My personal favorite was the Sula Dindori Reserve Shiraz, which had a rich and smooth taste. The sparkling wine was also refreshing and perfect for a celebration.
Dining Experience
Sula Vineyards has two main restaurants—Soma and Little Italy. We chose to dine at Soma, which offers delicious Indian cuisine that pairs well with wine. The food was well-prepared, and the service was excellent. The cheese platter, which included a variety of cheeses, nuts, and grapes, was a perfect accompaniment to our wine.
For those who prefer Italian cuisine, Little Italy serves a selection of pizzas, pasta, and other Mediterranean delights. The outdoor seating area added to the charm of the dining experience.
Additional Activities
Apart from the wine tour, there were plenty of other activities to enjoy. We took a stroll through the vineyard, clicked pictures with the scenic backdrop, and explored the souvenir shop, which had a variety of wine bottles, glasses, and other merchandise.
Sula also has a luxury resort called The Source, where guests can stay for a more extended experience. The resort offers cycling, spa treatments, and an infinity pool overlooking the vineyards, making it a great option for a relaxing weekend getaway.

Sula Vineyards is famous for hosting the annual SulaFest, a music and wine festival that attracts people from all over the country. Although we visited outside the festival season, the vibe of the place was still lively and enjoyable.
