Just back home after visiting this place. Had an awesome day especially 1) I went there by cycle. It's 25km one way from my home. 2) Feburary is perfect time to travel in Amritsar 3) Had great views of village and canals on my way there. Few things I would like to suggest is: Very firstly do not follow map location. Its not correct. Best is to reach Atari first and ask some local people for way and location. Amritsari people are very amiable, they would be mire than happy to guide you. Secondly do not miss the beauty of small villages and canals on the way close to pul kanjari. Place of my taste and of great historical value, but I guess adventure loving people should opt to visit. Cycling is best per me so that you don't miss any sight. Place belongs to Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who was rulling on Punjab from Lahore and was used to come here to spend some time in peace. Location is great. Remains are very neatly preserved. Small bricks used in construction of pond and compound around reminds richness of past time of ruled by Maharaja. It is one of the heritage sites built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, where he used to rest while travelling with his troops. During his reign, Pul Kanjari was an important trading centre. The legend has it when Maharaja Ranjit Singh married Begum Gul Bahar, on their way to Lahore they had to cross this canal on Ravi river. People used to cross the canal by foot but Begum Gul Bahar refused to do so. Since Maharaja Ranjit Singh was deeply in love with Begum Gul Bahar, he had a small bridge built for her.
