He was from Jyani gotra of Jats from village Katariasar in Bikaner State. His father was Hamirji of jyani Jat clan and chieftain of Katariasar. When the Rathor rulers in Bikaner increased the land taxes excessively, people became very disappointed. Jasnath Ji Maharaj appeared at this juncture to remove the problems faced by the people.
