Once I learned about this amazing hidden gem of Sikkim , I was eager to book a room ! However being a long Independence Day weekend it was just by sheer luck of a group cancelling that I managed to get a piece of this paradise called BurPeepal! The drive up to BurPeepal was amazing …..Nobody can imagine that being so close to Gangtok was a place that was so pristine that it almost looked like a wildlife sanctuary! ||On arrival we were greeted by our ever smiling host Mr Pradhan and our furry wag tailing friends in which “Bhaloo” the Alsatian became my best mate ! The property looked straight out of postcard picture setting…sprawling lawns, beautiful cottages and an immaculate spacious room! All five star facilities were present in the room but my favorite pick were the handmade chocolates! Being from the mountains one had requested the host to give me a riverside room and i could hear the gushing river and the amazing birds right from my king bed! ||However the real surprise came when we explored the property and went in to the river on an amazingly beautiful in-house trail full of fruiting trees, flowers and a flora that represented whole of this wonderful state! For people like me who are into birding it was nothing short of paradise! The evening ended with lovely dinner and we were fortunate enough to meet the hostess as well !||The morning started with bird songs and a rare in the season sunrise view which was visible from my huge room window! Being a tourism consultant and a co-author of "Homestay book by Times of India Group, I have had the good fortune of staying in hundreds of boutique properties but BurPeepal ticked all the right parameters and is definitely one of the best experiences of my life !
