This group does an incredible job, all around! All the staff were exceptional in providing a truly unforgettable experience in the Sikkim Himalaya. I was a single traveller paired with a group of 4 Indians, so group size of 5 was just right. Mingma made every effort to tailor a 7 day trek to Goecha La to my timing, and went above and beyond by lending me some of his own equipment, and helping me out personally after the trek just as a good friend would. Mingma will ensure the trek option you select fits your abilities, but note the roughly 100 km 8-9 day trek to Goecha La is definitely challenging.

Our guide Mabin was organized and knowledgeable, spoke excellent English and had a great sense of humour. He made sure all in the group were happy with the pace and difficulty of the hikes. I hiked the first day with another guide who was equally awesome.

One thing i did not expect was hiw delicious, filling and well prepared all the meals were. Breakfast lunch and dinner were provided each day, and lunch and dinner consisted of no less than 4 course, all prepared on two butane stoves in a cook tent. All in the group were truly blown away with the skill of our chef.

The small things made this experience truly remarkable. Hot tea was served each morning to help combat the cold temperatures at elevation, and even on the trail when we were nearing the next camp site. Care for the pack animals (horses and dzos) by the horsemen was excellent. The staff were all cheerful throughout and would spontaneously break out into Nepalese singing while hiking, setting up camp or preparing meals. These things made the experience that much more enjoyable.

Lastly of course the scenery around Yuksom, Tshoka, Dzongri, Lamunay and Goecha La is incredible! Being from the Canadian Rockies I knew somewhat to expect but truly I was left breathless on countless occasions along the trek. Once you reach the high alpine around Thangsing you are transported into another world.

The freshly cooked food was delicious every single day, served three times a day! None of the dishes offered was repeated, which was impressive. Moreover, they were open to adjusting the offerings to cater to any special dietary requirements. (As a vegan, I never encountered any issues.)

The team and guide were incredibly friendly and helpful. Their dedication and passion were palpable, making us feel like part of a family.

The trek offered a complete disconnect from everyday life, providing a real digital detox. Simply walking in the forest and not having to make any decisions was incredibly meditative.

We received so much more than what we expected in every single way. Additionally, the natural beauty of the Himalayas, with views of some of the highest peaks in the world, left a lasting impression.

My husband and I utilised the services of Mountain Tours, Treks & Travels to trek to Goechala Viewpoint. The whole experience from start to finish was a dream come true. When the trip was finalised at first I was a bit apprehensive but the proprietor Mingma, assured us of our safety. He was always ready to answer my most trivial questions and this instilled confidence in us. Mingma is also supported by a great crew of experienced trekkers. Our team was headed by our Guide Ashok who is a very patient and knowledgeable man. Our cook, Purna stirred up some real delicacies that we looked forward to each day. The entire trip went without a hitch and we got to see the summit of the worlds third highest mountain with ease.
