The engineering marvel in Tamil Nadu. The dam has a tunnel of about 1 mile. The power station functions by generating power in day time and during night the water sent downstream is pumped back for power generation for the next day. This is because of the low dam storage capacity and minimum water inflow. The tunnel is one of the highly protected places in Tamil Nadu with the presence of CISF personnel. The forest is very dense full of teak trees and vehicular travel is not allowed after sunset. There is a govt school and people working in the dam site live there. Private vehicles are not allowed inside. Prior permission has to be obtained from TANGEDCO Coimbatore circle. However, govt bus is available from Pollachi to Kadamparai.
