First of all,I would like to appreciate Anthropologists and Tamilnadu government for taking up a project like this.This is a must visit place for kids and Students alike.I strongly believe,reading about Tools and weapons made by ancient man in books is something different and seeing with your own eyes in person is different.Ooty is "NOT" all about honeymoon spots and Sight seeing spots in contrast to what most people think.Ooty and it's surrounding placeshave many research institues like this.PHOTOGRAPHY IS PROHIBITED HERE.This is the reason why you won't see many pictures here.This tribal museum will introduce some indigenous tribes like Todas,Paniyas and Kurumbas.After going through the various customs,activities and occupations of different tribes,you will definitely appreciate the diversity among various tribal...

Must visit place in Ooty

One of the best Tribal Museum, just 9 km from Ooty Town

Well organized, explanatory, good collectible and nice staff... Good place for children's to learn the ways of life practised by the 6 (Thoda, Kotha,Kurumba, Paniya Irula, Kattunayakan ) tribes in the district.. It was really a unique experience to visit. MUST VISIT PLACE IN OOTY!!!

I love the collections and history of tribes….it’s very interesting..

End of the visit I have big respect on tribe people.

Ticket fee: 5₹/person

Problems : No sign board. Very few people know about the place(even google map doesn’t no), No restroom and canteen facilities, bit far from main city..
