Ram Garh Tal has now become the most favoured tourist spot of the Gorakhpur and is comparable to Juju and Chaupati of Mumbai.It is gaining importance among the tourist places of UP state. Once this lake was filled with water-cress ie Jalkumbhi , now it is totally clean ,instead lotus is being grown at its east end.Total area of the lake is in about 1700 acres with circumference of 18 Kms. Tourist spots start from Buddha Dwar at the east end and takes a semi-๐circular route ,terminating at the far west view point. Shear walking around the lake is very refreshing and pleasing. Lake side has beautiful view points with marble sitting benches ,Naukayan Kendra with paddle boats and few speed boats, sound and light decks for show in the evening , which is really a magical experience.Boat jetty and sports complex adds to its charm. On the other side of this lake are many pride spots of the city like circuit house, Nir nikunj water-park,Buddha Museum ,Ambedkar park and upcoming zoo of national importance. In the evening it's arch shaped lighting reminds us of Queens necklace of Marine drive , Mumbai. The lake has a little uncertain history to it- it is believed that there was a village named Ramgarh that collapsed due to a disaster creating a big hole that eventually got filled with water. Lo and behold! A beautiful Lake is formed! The Lake is a beautiful sight- blue water, people enjoying a family picnic, and little villages around it. Ramgarh Tal is a rich source of fish and its water is also used for irrigation, supporting livelihood of many. Government made generous attempts to beautify it by means of a Buddha Museum, a planetarium, a park and some water sports facilities. Unfortunately, the water quality of this Lake has deterioted over time owing to it being treated as a dumping ground for sewage by nearby residential colonies. ย ย ย Read moreThe best place in the town (Gorakhpur) to visit and relax located near Mohaddipur police station. The taal/ pond is surrounded by a curved road. The main location has flag point which is the tallest flag pole (75 m) in UP region. The magnificent flying flag is the main attraction point which fills deshbhakti/ patriotism in heart. There is porch type area where I โฅ๏ธ GORAKHPUR is written (cemented and painted) which act as photography point. There is boating facility with different types of boats: paddle boats, motor boats, high speed jet boats with prices in ascending order (โน100 to 200). In the evening musical fountain show at around 7pm is wonderful (must watch). There are no any tickets/entry fee for going inside and roam. Jhaal moorhi and bhutte (๐ฝ) is very commonly available.
