Kafini glacier Trek Kafni Glacier is Located in the upper part of Kumaon Himalaya, towards the southeast side of Nanda Devi, Kafni is a small glacier, which is the source of water for Kafni River, a tributary of the Pindar River. Kafni is situated left of Pindar Valley, beneath the famous peak of Nandakot. From Kafni glacier, one can enjoy the view of peaks like Nandakot (6,860 m) and Nandabhnar (6,236 m). Kafni Glacier trek leads to the remote regions of Uttarakhand and offers the opportunity to camp on huge grasslands, and then it has to be the Kafni Glacier trek. The landscapes keep on changing at every turn; the trail throws many challenges, from beautiful river crossing and sparkling waterfall on the way from Khati to Khatiya to getting lost in the forests en-route to Khatiya to the breathtaking view of Nandakot peak towering above. The final destination of the trek, Kafni Glacier (3,860 meters), can be accessed during May –June, and September-November. One should avoid trekking during the monsoon season as the trails are slippery. Kafni Glacier route follows the same as the Pindari Glacier Trek, but the best part of this trek is that trekkers will encompass more regions. The trek commences from Kharkiya, after that, the trail leads to Khati, Dwali, and Khatiya to reach Kafni Glacier. Spectacular view of Kafni Glacier, lush alpine meadows with sprinkled wildflowers, and snow-clad peaks kissing the sky accompany the trekkers when they walk on the meandering unpaved roads. It’s hard to define the beauty of this trek. The trek is going to be a little strenuous, but the view of the Nandakot (6860 m) and Nandabhnar (6236 m) from the Kafni glacier is worth all the ache and bruises.Region – Kumaon (Uttarakhand) District – Bageshwar Best season – April to June, September to October Altitude Range – 980mts to 3,800mts Above Sea Level Trekking Grade-Easy to Moderate Duration –5days Trek, 2 days travel (total 7 days) Temperature – Max 20 ̊C, Min 1 ̊C Total Trek – 56km #kumaunhimalayas #uttarakhanddiaries #offbeatindia #uttarakhandheaven #adventuretrekkers #offbeatplaces #kumauniculture #kautelatop #nagthaltop #pankhutop #uttarakhandtourism #uttarakhand #uttrakhand_beauty #uttarakhandtraveller #himalayas #trending #trekking #travelphotography #travelgram #travelblogger #kafini #bageshwar #offbeattravel #UttarakhandTrekking #himalayantrekking #kumaunhimalayasexpedition #adventuretrekkers #uttarakhandheaven #offbeatplaces #uttarakhanddiaries #sunrise...

The Kafni Glacier is located in the upper reaches of the Kumaon Himalayas, to the southeast of Nanda Devi. The glacier gives rise to the Kafni River, which is a tributary of the Pindar River. The Pinder River is a tributary to Alaknanda River, which eventually is one of the two headstreams of the Ganges. This is relatively small glacier but a popular trekking destination along with Pindari Glacier.

The glacier is located in Bageshwar district. From Bageshwar town it can be approached via route of Bharadi, Saung, Loharkhet, Dhakuri Pass, Khati, Dwali, and Khatiya. The route until Loharkhet is motorable, after which it is approximately a 90 km (56 mi) round trip. Khati is the last village on the route. Though Pindari is more popular tourist destination, some people find route to this glacier more beautiful. Unlike Pindari, tourists can trek up to the glacier. In case of Pindari, the trek beyond zero point becomes very tough and cannot be done without...
