Awesome place for trek. Place is known as sattopanth/swargarohini, which is because ,"Pandava" with dropadi,- chose this trek to reach to heaven, and only Dharmraaj Yudhisthir survived to reach the heaven, rest pandava and dropadi couldnt make it and died in between the trek at different places like _shastradhara, chakratirth, sattopanth taal, etc. As you reach the highest point at chakratirth (approx. 4000mt) you wil feel yourself with the wind, and surroundings with withe glaciers. This trek starts from badrinath and ends at stairway to heaven(glacier situated 600 mt ahead of sattopanth taal.) Total trek length is 21to 22kilometres.

The Satopanth Glacier is situated in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The term ‘Satopanth’ is perhaps derived from two words – ‘Sat-o’ meaning of truth, and ‘Panth’ meaning path or way. So its literal meaning is the path of truth. The glacier is one of the popular glaciers of Uttarakhand Scientists claim that the Satopanth Glacier is retreating, though not as fast as the Gangotri Glacier. So, a number of preventive measures have been taken. Also, as the glacier lies quite near the Indo-Tibet Border, photography is strictly prohibited. It lies on the northwest side of Nilkantha, a major peak of the Garhwal division of the Himalayas. It sits below a 2,500 m (8,200 ft) face of the peak. Originating at a height of 7000 meters from the peaks of the Chaukhamba (7068m) and the Badrinath (6974m) mountains, the glacier spreads over a vast expanse of 13 km, this glacier melts into water at an altitude of 3810 meters. The Narayan Parvat and the foot of Balkun or Balakun peak, touches...

Excellent...It is In Mana Village Valley About 3/4 Kms From Badrinath Mandir The Trekking Starts From Mana Village And it 12 Kms Return Trek..It is Moderately Difficult Trek Because of Huge Stones And Loose Boulders Strewn Path It is a Steep But Steady Climbing And The Weather is Very Unpredictable We Had Gone in Mid May..So it was Very Cold and It was Raining also..So It is Advisable to Check the Weather Before Starting The Trek..Mana is a Remote Village And the Vasundhara Waterfalls are at an Altitude of 13,000 Ft..And Please Remember it is a No Man's Land and in Emergency One Can Get Stranded with No Help Coming Soon..It Gets Very Freezing at the Top and Melting Glaciers Of Satopanth are a Awesome Sight Worth The Trek..Same with Vasundhara Waterfalls One Must Visit..But Do Start Early in The Morning if the Weather is Bright and Sunny..Because in the Afternoons the Climate Can Change Suddenly and Getting Stranded on the Top is Not an...
