Located just on the fringe of lalgarh forest, in the district of Jhargram, West Bengal, India, this is an ancient building founded by Raja(king) Jogendra Narayan. The huge structure reflects the typical living conditions of the rajas of ancient times. A handful of descendants still reside here but none of them could tell the year it was constructed. They all assumed it was constructed about 500 years ago. Some patches of the compound have been repaired and restructured for the suitability of the present residents. The major event that happens here is the Durga pujo and on all these days, specially on Ashtami, a very large sword is worshipped along with the deity. It is believed that this sword was used by the king (Raja) to eliminate 1100 enemy soldiers on a single day. The large decorated main gate and the architecture of the palace is something worth looking at. Though this palace speaks a lot of the history of the locality, it needs better protection and needs to be known to tourists...
