Pada tahun 2014 yang lalu, amblesnya jembatan ini menyebabkan kemacetan yang sangat parah pada jalur pantura. Salah satu kawan ada yang menuturkan, perjalanan Jakarta - Semarang bisa memakan waktu 6 hari. Ikon Comal yang sangat terkenal. Jembatan atau brug comal salah satu penopang lancarnya arus distribusi dari anyer hingga panarukan.

Beberapa kali insiden ambrugnya jembatan ini, membuat lumpuhnya jalur distribusi pantura.

Di tahun 2014, jembatan ini ambles. Dari SPBU THR (dekat hotel Santika) saya isi bensin sekitar jam 20.00,, lalu saya tanya petugas SPBU, kira2 saya melewati jembatan jam berapa? Dijawab lah jam 3 shubuh,, saya kira bercanda saja dan ternyata saya lewat persis...
