Johanes and his team are amazing! They deserve all of the five stars I give them.
They were all helpful from the start which was the pick-up from the Banyuwangi harbour. Until the drop-off back to the Banyuwangi harbour. Johanes picked us up himself drove us to the homestay and gave us detailed instructions, tips & warnings. Which was very helpful during the hike. At midnight his team Tulus and Hendrik picked us up and we drove to the entrance together. From then on we continued with Tulus and he was very informative during the entire hike. He also helped us at the tricky parts and took us to the sunrise point to have a marvelous view of the lake and the sulfur mine. And I can recommend the cake that Tulus offered us. We were happy to have him as our tour guide.
After the hike, Hendrik drove us through a clove farm and a rubber farm. After our breakfast, they brought us from the homestay and drove us to the harbour.
They provided us a full service and it was very satisfying. We chose package C which included a homestay. It was called 1911 cafe & resto. The homestay was the least satisfying part of the entire journey. Due to the amount of dead insect it didn't feel clean, and the shower didn't provide enough hot water. I will write a separate review about that. I recommend Johanes to work with a different homestay to provide the perfect service. But he offers another option package B, without a homestay. For now, I would recommend taking package B and finding another staying place since he picks you up from your staying place at midnight.
Thanks again Johanes for this experience. If we ever come to Ijen, we will contact you....
Read moreWe had a great Morning with Blueflame. I reached out on WhatsApp and Johanes replied straight away. It was a really easy conversation via messaging- they understood clearly what I wanted to do and all the information received was perfect and answered all my questions, everything was booked and planned.
On the morning of our tour we were warmly greeted by Arif (ex miner) and Adi (driver) at our hostel. Very punctual and helpful. The car was super comfortable and we Arif explained a few things on our way to Ijen but also allowed us to rest as it was still early. They provided mineral water and a snack from the local bakery, which was a nice touch.
We had a tea and coffee before we set off for our hike and then off we went up with Arif, he spoke great English and we could have a real good conversation with him on the way. He had great tips for hiking up and was just super helpful throughout.
Being an ex miner he had great stories and gave good insight to the life which was very interesting to hear about. He took us to great viewpoints and safe areas for photos.
Once down we relaxed for a bit and had some food and water, they knew we were heading over to Bali so they kindly booked our ferry ticket for us and sorted everything. Adi then drove us to the port where Arif showed us the way and helped with the ticket.
Honestly they couldn’t do enough for us and we had a fantastic time with them. We were really happy we went with Blueflame tour and can only recommend- they cater to what you want and are just wonderful people. I wish you all the best for the future, a...
Read moreAs we were looking for a Ijen Tour guide, we've contacted three agencies. Blueflame Tour was by far the most expensive. But they acted also by far most professional and offered addional bonuses and experiences which others don't. The communication is outstanding, you get always a very quick and very informational reply on your request. So we decided to invest in a great experience and have choosen them, even when we paid double then the two other agencies. We realized quickly, it was the right choice. We expected to join a group tour, but we had our very own guide and rider. Tulus and Hendrik, woderful team! We've met at the basecamp another guide of the same agencie with his customers, took a last drink and got a great tour. What's also unique, Blueflame Tour is the ONLY agnecy which offers also safety goggles, so your eyes get not sick of the strong smoke on the crater. We have not seen any other people having them and we were more than happy to also protect our eyes from the smoke. After the hike we went to see a coffee platantion and visited a wonderfull waterfall. Our guide also recommended us a very nice local meal and where we can eat it. Rujak Soto, woow! 🥰👌 thank you so much for this...
