Gede-Pangrango Volcanoes is a twin volcanoes which administratively located in 3 regions, namely Bogor Regency, Cianjur Regency and Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province as the part of hundreds volcano exists in Indonesia ring of fire lines which formed million years ago by the collision of two major plates called Eurasian and Indo-Australian. In the Dutch colonisation era, the Dutch East Indies government set the area around Gede-Pangrango to fulfill both their economical and environmental interests. The economical interest can be shown of how they designated most of the fertile lands surrounding it to become agricultural and plantation which now has developed reach the area of Ciawi and Cikopo. The environmental can be shown of how they designated the area around Cibodas-Cimungkad to become the first center of conservation area and botanical research in Indonesia by establishing Botanical Garden and setting Natural Reserve. In the Indonesian independency era, the Indonesian government then continue the preservation effort of the area around Gede-Pangrango by setting Gede-Pangrango Biosphere Reserve and Gede-Pangrango National Park which then nobled as the oldest biosphere reserve and national park in Indonesia.
