I played 18-holes (Ocean course) at the stunning Ria Bintan Golf Club. My experience in-short exceeded all expectations and tops my list of favourite golfing experiences. I was visiting Singapore from Australia, and enquired about visiting Ria Bintan for a day trip via email. Correspondence was very fast and customer service were helpful in coordinating and booking a ferry from Singapore, setting up a tee-time that would align shortly following arrival. We were greeted at the ferry terminal in Singapore by staff, who guided us through check-in and immigration, and again in Indonesia to facilitate rapid passage through immigration, obtaining our visa and then transferring us by car to the golf club.
In terms of golfing, the venue has an excellent change rooms/ facilities and clubhouse, the fairways and greens were impeccable and our caddy for the round was so knowledgeable, kind and proactive. Clubs were available for hire from the pro-shop. Small additional things such as a half-way house stocked with cold drinks, we were able to order coffee, as well as have more golf balls delivered from the pro-shop mid round made the experience fantastic. Overall I rate my experience 10/10 and would recommend this as an option for anyone staying in Singapore looking for a day trip for a picturesque...
Read moreThe course is great and when we played there was only 4 other groups on the course( which was fantastic) however its a stretch to say its value for money. $210 for Golf $50 for VISA $90 for Ferry $20 for Caddie tip (Also you only get 1 per buggy shared between two golfers unless you pay extra) Total $370 to come from Singapore to play, I may as well pay that to Laguna in Singapore and save myself the hassle of the Ferry. The visa and ferry prices aren't set by them however the $210 for green fees are, and that feels like the reason the place is empty on both Saturday and Sunday.
Their most famous hole on the ocean course is great but all the rubbish washed up on the beach makes it rather disappointing. I know this isn't there fault but if its part of the course I'd have thought that it would be cleaned up.
Staff are super helpful.
If you like banged up old golf buggys and not to be rushed on the course, this is the place for you however everyone that played agreed there is better options for the money in the region without the hassle.
Would like to play this course again but can't see...
Read moreGreat golf course but subpar accommodation at the Ria Golf Lodge, please stay somewhere else instead!
We checked in on Friday morning for a round at Ria, it was fairly quiet - 3 other groups played in the morning with us. The entire resort was empty, like not even a soul around. It doesn’t take much to wonder why, the rooms are poorly maintained, they have 30 rooms on site but I’m pretty sure we were the only 2 rooms occupied. The entire place was a ghost town. We even arrived back “late” at 9.30pm post our massage and there wasn’t a single staff on site - there was only one security guard on-site, which is alarming for a “luxury golf resort” a half decent hotel or accommodation would have some staff around at night at least - Incase guests have any issues. Aside from this, the subpar quality of food, rundown facilities really makes it hard to find any redeeming quality aside from the beautiful course. They should really think about closing the lodge and focus on the course, it would be a shame for...
