An amazing place. Swim in the salt lake caldera which is about 5 minutes hike inland. The water is flat and warm, and if you swim to the middle, you might just become one with everything. Don't forget to hang a rock and make a wish. Snorkeling/diving (outer reefs) is unparalleled. Fruit bats fly silently overhead at dusk.

Умиротворенное и загадочное место с летучими лисами. Остров Сатонда образовался в результате извержения горы Сатонда тысячи лет назад. Говорят, что вулкан Сатонда старше горы Тамбора , которая находится примерно в 30 километрах от острова. Остров Сатонда имеет обширные естественные коралловые рифы в окружающих водах и был объявлен Морским природным парком в 1999 году Министерством лесного хозяйства Индонезии. Предполагается, что остров будет частью национального парка Мойо Сатонда вместе с соседним островом Мойо. В центре острова расположено озеро площадью 335 га и глубиной 86 метров. Вода озера Сатонда соленая, а уровень щелочности намного выше, чем в обычной морской воде. Бассейн Сатонды образован кратерами возрастом более десяти тысяч лет.

Satonda adlh pulau yg begtu indah, memiliki danau air asin yg lebih asin dri air laut, unikx lg, hanya ad 1 jenis ikan yg hdup d danau trsebut, ikanx kecil2 yg transparan, danau tersebut tidak terhubung langsng dengan air laut yg mengelilingi pulau tersebut. Adax danau tersebut, krna hasil dri letusan gunung tambora, yg akhirx membuat sunami, sehingga air laut tersebut masuk kdlam pulau trsbut dan sampai skrg airx ttp ada. Namun yg unikx yg tdak bisa dpat di nalar oleh masyrkat awam adalah, knpa airx lebih asin dri pda air laut ???..

Scenic island on our sailing trip from Komodo to Sumbawa.The park rangers are very nice friendly people. They also do a great job of keeping the surrounding environment clean. No trash were seen which is very rare for an Indonesian island. Inland lake was surreal, quiet, and meditative. Outside reef is fairly nice with a nice slope reef to...
