Babylon Archaeological Hills — Local services in Al-Mahawil Central Subdistrict

I’m quite disappointed by this really important and historical sight.. it’s again- like always 25.000 for foreigners entrance fee. For that it’s really not well maintained, there’s a lot of trash laying around. Almost no information at all, for this price at least there should be an information paper, an App, an audio guide or even a guide in person. Many parts of it were closed for renovation.

It’s a shame, that Iraqi government just can’t seem to get it together so that everything works and is intact on any sight in this country. There should be informations about ongoing renovations and the price must be reduced as per percentage of the area under...

The archaeological site of Babylon is a must see for anyone visiting Iraq. You can reach it by taxi from the garage in Al-Hillah for 5000 IQD. When arriving at the entry of the site, I was allowed to leave my big backpack in the Ishtar gate (🤭 there is an office / storage room in the gate). Unfortunately, much of the old ruins of the ancient city are covered in mire recent constructions and are hence not excavated which was a little disappointing to me.
