Unfortunately, this is one of the most neglected historical sites in Iraq _the country of ignorance. Thought it is birth land of one of the most distinguished historical civilizations in Mesopotamia, the site is totally neglected and almost a waste. Yet, you can meet lots of visitors there who enjoy the beautiful surroundings and find the widely open to air yards and gardens where you can enjoy a meal with family or friends

Absolute must see! Archeological site of Babylon, over 3000 years old. Phenomenal to see some of these structures still standing. Iraqi history at its best, but a guide might be needed if you want more information as you walk around. Get there before 1pm.

At the beginning of our civilization. Too bad it is so little to look and to hear. It would be wonderful to experience more on site since there are many interesting things to observe.

I’m quite disappointed by this really important and historical sight.. it’s again- like always 25.000 for foreigners entrance fee. For that it’s really not well maintained, there’s a lot of trash laying around. Almost no information at all, for this price at least there should be an information paper, an App, an audio guide or even a guide in person. Many parts of it were closed for renovation.

It’s a shame, that Iraqi government just can’t seem to get it together so that everything works and is intact on any sight in this country. There should be informations about ongoing renovations and the price must be reduced as per percentage of the area under...

The archaeological site of Babylon is a must see for anyone visiting Iraq. You can reach it by taxi from the garage in Al-Hillah for 5000 IQD. When arriving at the entry of the site, I was allowed to leave my big backpack in the Ishtar gate (🤭 there is an office / storage room in the gate). Unfortunately, much of the old ruins of the ancient city are covered in mire recent constructions and are hence not excavated which was a little disappointing to me. There are also free guides at the entry of the site who will give you a tour to understand a bit better...

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World as listed by Hellenic culture, described as a remarkable feat of engineering with an ascending series of tiered gardens containing a wide variety of trees, shrubs, and vines, resembling a large green mountain constructed of mud bricks, and said to have been built in the ancient city of Babylon, near...
