Lovely day at the beach, good weather always helps! The beach has unusual sand, coarser than usual, but nice underfoot. There is a little steep slope down to the water and the waves can be a bit strong for smaller kids, but plenty were enjoying a lovely swim. Lovely scenery all around too. Not many amenities, there was a very old and smelly toilet block. Roads very narrow in this area, not for the nervous, but well worth a visit. Had nice bar food in the Wild Atlantic Bar near Adrigole on way back, out was good. A...

Really nice beach with a little courser sand. We were driving the ring and didn't expect to encounter a beach for some reason. We stopped by and sat on the beach for a good 30 mins. It was beautiful with a slight breeze, some cool rock formations and a coffee stand not too far away. Thewater wasn't completely clear of sea weed but good enought to swim! I did notice we plastic, trash and fishing gear but it wasnt a lot... I mean any is too much but it could be worse. If you're in the...

Well worth the journey time. Beautiful beach, course clean sand , clear water. Not crowded but parking is difficult. No lifeguard so be careful in the water. Bit of a current when the tide is going out and the water gets deep very quickly when you enter from the beach. Great scenery and signposted walks which give magnificent sunset views. Coffee stall near the pier which also serves hot and cold food, hot food cooked fresh. Public toilets are...

Absolutely gorgeous spot. One of the most beautiful beaches of southwest Ireland. Course sand, calm waters - had a great swim, almost warm! The setting is fantastic - surrounded by hills, fields and yellow-painted farmhouses. The village of Allihies 1km on the hill above looks amazing with brightly coloured houses. Parking for about 15 vehicles. Campsite directly above the beach. Fresh tea/coffee, snacks and cooked food from the van by the carpark.
