Both my wife & I have been using Hanleys since their original opening date ,and had always found them to be excellent to deal with UNTIL RECENTLY .We had a complaint re a purchase of two potted plants “ Identical in size and colour to be potted in containers (free standing ) at the front of our house ONE FLOWERED , ONE DID NOT , planted same day. . Both were planted in the same compost , were 2 Meters apart and both facing Eastward ( the cost of the plants & compost were €88 .00 .WE GOT NO SATISFACTION worth speaking about ,short of taking two other plants as they did not have similar to the originals at a DISCOUNT of 10 percent plus a free bag of compost . THIS WAS MEANT TO COMPENSATE ME FOR ALL OF THE HASTLE “. I DECLINED “ left them my contact tel no . Heard nothing back from them since .(at no stage did I seek a full refund , but a minuscule discount and a bag of compost what was a GENUINE COMPLAINT Seemed to me to be a very poor Effort to ensure CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ...
Read moreUpdate March 2025 Purchased a patio dining set from Hanley's. Purchase went fine thanks to Jim. I haven't a lot to say about the delivery company who never called ús to say they were delivering and then delivered an incorrect table. Neither did they call us when they re-delivered. A call costs nothing. I think they just couldn't be bothered when it's standard practice now to contact the customer before delivery. Thanks to Wendy who sorted it all out. Too notch customer service from her.
Update 11 June 22. The cafe (Jam is gone), but the garden shop has improved hugely. The plant section in particular is a credit to whoever is managing that section. Fantastic fresh plant layouts and all kinds of accessories in a weather proof setting. The indoor shop is very well laid out, clean, tidy and staff very friendly. There is a separate outdoor furniture shop across the car park, also worth a browse

Read moreAs a garden centre? Wonderful. A place that should be keeping live animals? Absolutely not. The owner of this shop is knowingly keeping axolotls in extremely poor condition. They are not being fed sufficiently, leading to them eating each other alive in the tank. Every one of them has wounds and missing limbs. When confronted in March, they gave false information about rescuing that batch and wouldn’t be stocking again. This is one of many stories that have been given to others who were concerned along with buying them from a “buddy” who breeds them. The water conditions are so poor that the animals gills are almost non existent. Following my initial complaint he added a sponge filter and a couple hides, making it look a little better. But the animals are in the exact same condition. I am only able to post the less graphic photos as Google will not allow...
