Escape to the Wild to relax, recharge & refresh.... The Burren Yoga Retreat was an unplanned gem! My last minute decision to join a weekend retreat turned out to be a perfect experience. You have a packed weekend schedule with relaxation sessions, meditation and yoga workshops. The schedule is packed but not overwhelming that you have enough time in between to have downtime and chill. The food throughout the weekend is exceptional. There is plenty of it and large variety of wholesome, organic, high quality ingredients used for all of the dishes. I couldn't get enough of the dishes and with breakfast, lunch and dinners you are spoiled with delicious delights. There are also a whole spectrum of herbal teas, coffee, elderflower drinks to consume over the weekend. The yoga instructor, Karolina was an absolute gem. She had a lovely calming nature, voice and made each session an absolute pleasure. She is highly experienced and very knowledgeable in her practice. I thoroughly enjoyed her educational workshop style classes. It meant you come away with knowledge that you can use to implement into your own daily yoga practice. It was nice to have time to hangout with her throughout the weekend to chat and ask questions. Dave who runs the centre has very high standards and this comes across strongly with the venue, setting, excursions, food and yoga instructors. I appreciate the high standards that he works to maintain and it makes me eager to return but this time do a full week long retreat where you can immerse yourself more thoroughly into a peaceful practice of yoga and mediation. All of these things coupled with the VERY comfortable beds make the whole experience a must do escape. I would highly recommend taking the opportunity to escape to one of these retreats where you will get more out of it than just that. I came away with new friends, knowledge, clearer and relaxed state of mind and a hunger for more. Dave is building a new and improved yoga centre which I am excited to see when complete in 2021. The Burren area is a wild and beautiful place and having this yoga centre situated within this area only amplifies the exceptional experience you come away with. Even the drive to the centre was such an enjoyable experience. My advice is sign up for a retreat, take your time getting there, take your time throughout the few days to take it all in, open yourself to every and all of the experiences, chat away to the strangers who become your friends and finally take a step forward to improving on you...a better version of you that comes away at the end!

The Burren is a quietly spectacular place. Silent and brooding, blooming and vibrant. Nestled in this special place is the equally spectacular Burren Yoga Retreat Centre. Stone walls wind you softly away from the hustle and bustle of daily life until you find yourself in a haven of modern serenity. The tinkle of the windchime signals your arrival and accompanies the warm welcome from Dave and Joanne that meets you at the door. Our teacher, Eleanor Dawson, tunes into the energy of everyone on the retreat. Her teaching style of yoga and meditation is sublime. She uses cueing, breath, and sound to enable you to access whatever it is that you came for. Her dedication to this retreat, her attention to detail and her subtle, individual focus on each participant ensures a personal and profound experience for everyone in the room. In addition to the top class yoga and meditation offerings, the building itself is spectacular. It is bright, modern, crisp, clean and comfortable, with underfloor heating and unrivaled views of the Burren. And Dave has plans up his sleeve for a new wellness spa area and covered yoga deck! The food, prepared and served thoughtfully by Claire and Patricia, is nourishing, tasty and delicious. As if all of that isn't enough, you also have fantastic, accessible hikes in the Burren, sea swims, lake dips and social outings to look forward to, warmly and knowledgeably facilitated by Dave and Joanne. A retreat here is beyond compare. If there is a calling in your soul to experience any of this magic, I would highly recommend the Burren yoga Retreat Centre. 5 stars!

A TONIC FOR THE SOUL - I can’t recommend the burden yoga retreat enough! It starts with the drive to the location which is something out of a movie, the Burren landscape is otherworldly (I’m Irish and it still took my breath away). When you arrive you are greeted personally by the retreat coordinator who in my case was just the most warm, kind man you could meet, he made me feel instantly at ease (I should note that I am a female and came to this retreat solo, however I didn’t feel alone for long). I have found that the people attracted to a retreat like this are those looking for peace in a busy world, if you are one of those people you have come to the right spot. The people I met on my retreat were extraordinary and came from far and wide, it was incredible swapping stories (and book recommendations) over dinner and getting to know these people without the distraction of phones and tv. Everything from the wall colour to the pillows has been carefully considered to create maximum relaxation. Lastly but certainly not least is the food, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! All vegetarian and all exceptionally tasty and locally sourced. I’m already planning my next retreat. To sum up, this is a very special place run by very special people, you would be lucky to experience it!

I recently attended a yoga and meditation retreat in the stunning Burren area of Ireland at Burren Yoga Retreat. I can confidently say it was a life-changing experience. I’ve faced a lot of grief and stress over the past few years, and this retreat provided the perfect environment and care to gain space and clarity as I continue on my healing journey. The retreat was beautifully organized, with daily yoga sessions that were both invigorating and calming, perfectly tailored to all levels. The meditation practices helped guide me to accept what is and helped me release some of the grief and disconnection I have been carrying.

From the moment I arrived, the serene landscape and warm hospitality enveloped me. Joanne, was an amazing and supportive coordinator during the retreat that kept us all apprised of the day(s) ahead. She has a beautiful energy. Her curiosity and knowledge of the Burren and other aspects of Ireland led to inspired talks and experiences on the scheduled outings and hikes. She shared a vision with me about Ireland’s re-wilding that has inspired me in ways I did not expect. Thank you, Joanne!

The yoga and meditation instructor, Niamh Daly, was incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate, creating a safe space for us to explore our emotions and connect to ourselves. I am a licensed physical therapist(physiotherapist) in the United States. I have not come across a more trauma informed, intuitive and knowledgeable anatomy and physiology yoga instructor in my 15 years of yoga practice. She has inspired me to practice differently and feel differently about my body. There are so many other things I am still processing because of this connection. Thank you, Niamh!

The food created, presented and served with love each night by Claire was exceptional. What a gift to have food prepared for me. Claire has inspired me to do what I have been trying to implement into my life for years: shopping, preparing and eating better. Thank you, Claire for keeping me fueled with delicious, beautiful and incredibly healthy food during my stay!

Dave, the owner and builder of this beautiful and magical space, is dedicated and interested in the experience you are having during the retreat and after. This is not just a business but a labor of love. He is continuing to add and evolve some great elements as I write this review. Thank you, Dave, for your vision!

I was incredibly blessed and will continue to hold each and every one of lovely and brilliant women that participated along-side me on this retreat. I had so many moments of synchronicity and connection and learned from every one of you. Thank you!

I left the retreat feeling lighter, more centered, and with a renewed sense of purpose. I can't recommend this retreat enough for anyone seeking healing and tranquility. It truly was a transformative experience, and I’m so grateful for the memories and growth I’ve gained from it. Thank you to everyone involved for creating such a special space!

I discovered the Burren Yoga Centre about 20 years ago and I have been a fairly regular visitor ever since. What draws me back is a variety of factors. The wild, rugged and rocky beauty of the Burren really appeals to me, with little traffic, no city lights and no television at the centre. Internet access is available, if necessary but I prefer a complete digital detox. This is an ideal location to unwind even before you begin to think about yoga.

On arrival we are warmly welcomed by one of the retreat co-ordinators, George or Madelina, who will also accompany us on our optional outdoor activities to ensure we get the best experience from the outing. Last January, I had my first ever winter sea swim in the company of a few fearless, female yoginis and once I got over my initial reluctance, I found the experience exhilarating. The food is vegetarian and even though I am not vegetarian it is cooked so mouth-wateringly well by resident chefs Claire and Patricia that I go back for seconds.

People of all ages, from Ireland and abroad and from all walks of life come to the centre. I’ve started yoga retreats with strangers only for them to feel like a second family at the end of the week and with social media it’s so easy to stay in contact, share memories and photos of the outings.

Above all the quality of the teachers I have met down through the years has been excellent. Each have their own unique approach but what they all have in common is a great depth of knowledge, many years’ experience and patience. For example, Niamh Daly taught me the benefit of slowing down and self-compassion with restorative yoga. And I left the retreat with healthier knees. I don’t know which posture did the fix, it may have been the approach and/or combination of postures. Eileen Riordan O’ Sullivan helped me focus on coordinating breath with movement into postures, to increase awareness. Awareness of breath is something I am remembering to bring into daily activities, although I am still a work in progress.

Yoga postures can be tweaked and modified for those lacking in flexibility. There is always a modification to suit your needs. Personally, I lack upper body flexibility, like a lot of men, but the appropriate addition of a prop, such as one or more yoga blocks can make a challenging posture very attainable.

I always leave a retreat feeling refreshed, energised and with a calmer approach to life. Dave has created a tranquil oasis, in a stunning location and provides access to the finest of yoga teachers. I recommend a retreat at the Burren Yoga Centre...
