Visited here today as we were passing by and we were so glad we did! Karen and sinead were so lovely, friendly and knowledgeable. We were first met with Denis and Norman the beautiful old irish goats at the front then we went inside and were told of oisin and his contribution to the research on old irish goats, there was a lovely museum with interactive parts for children and a movie about the history of the goats. Finish off with a look around the gift shop (soon to have tea /coffee and snacks), it's all free but there is a donation box and all proceeds from the gift shop go towards the old irish goat society. It's perfect for knowledge on one of our oldest irish animals and also a fun experience for all, would...
Read moreI stumbled across this place on my way up to Achill Island. The staff here are so lovely and passionate about what they do which is working to protect the beautiful Old Irish Goats. I saw one on the road only 5 minutes away as they had suggested I would! Overall a lovely informative experience from passionate and dedicated animal lovers and conservationists, would...
Read moreDropped into the old Irish Goat centre, I was amazed to learn about how close they were to extinction and that it was believed they were already extinct until Oisin the goat had his DNA tested. Staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Information was delivered to my children in an age appropriately manner, the short documentary was very informative. Hard to believe this herd is not yet a protected and can be hunted. Fantastic to see how passionate volunteers are in their role to protect these fantastic animals. #saveourgoats more Irish than the Irish...
