We visited in November on a particularly cold day but received a warm welcome from John (Sean) Browne who is an amazing man with a dream that became a reality. I felt that this museum struck a chord in your heart for the sheer determination of one man to bring this train to Castlerea and install it in and through his family pub/restaurant. It is brilliant and bonkers but outstanding all the same. John is a storyteller and an all round comedian who will delight you in your way around his painstakingly curated Irish railways paraphernalia. I take my conductor’s hat off to him. Well done John your museum is incredible we really enjoyed our visit.

Had a great visit here today.Sean is a great host.He even picked me up from the Station!Terrific collection of photographs, and artifacts from all over Ireland,North and South. The only train in a pub I can think of.Also lovely walks around the demesne, and Oscar Wilde connections in the town.

Visited as part of a surprise birthday trip, Sean was brilliant. Very extensive collection in the museum from photos to rail memorabilia. If you have an interest in railway history I highly recommend visiting. Many stories that Sean will tell you and he went above and beyond

What a gem of a place, you’ll be surprised at how great this small place is. Jam packed with surprises everywhere & loads of gossip to boot. The owner is an absolute legend & he is actually the main gem of the place with stories galore & bundles of pride in his amazing collection. Family of 6, range of ages 19 to 2 & there’s something for everyone. Such a pity that there is not more padding traffic, everyone should get a...
