I was exploring the Dalkey with my friends who were visiting me from abroad. At Dalkey town centre, I accidentely bumped/brushed into a woman with her husband. Before I could apologise, they started yelling insults at me "Watch where you're going, have some manners, go back to your country". (I am of African descent, they had the south dublin accent). Extreme overreaction for something so small. I told them that "it wasn't intentional, the pathway was too narrow", however the insults kept coming, I kept silent until they walked away. My Italian friends were shocked and stood there. Afterwards they were like "Are Irish people unfriendly towards foriegners, what is their general attitude". Despite living in "expensive areas" like Dalkey, locals tend to be very narrow minded towards foriegners, and conceal their racist thoughts until something happens that triggers them to say what they actually think. Dalkey is not multicultural, which is why the Irish people who just want to "stick with their kind" pay exorbant prices...

Lovely little island with a Martello tower (no entry) ,medieval church ruins and some military ruins in Dublin bay. Great place to see seals, wild goats and birds particularly on a sunny day. Also a great place for a little peace and quite. No facilities of any sort on the island but the ferry takes about 5minutes and is pretty much on demand. Cost 10 Euro return for adults and 5 Euro for children. Ferry can be taken from colliemore...

It's certainly not Iona (the Scottish holy island) but it did remind me of that unforgettable pilgrimage destination. The ruined church is about the size of a modern home living room. And though the Martello Tower is shorter than those on the mainland, it is well preserved (though not open for entry now). The boat crew were very attentive and helpful to the older man in our crossing. The €8 fare was...

Beautiful place. You can even do a picnic here. As it's Ireland I would suggest to visit the island during summer. The island consists of old church and few other structures. It's just an hour journey from Connoly station by DART . Worth a visit.

The island is perfect. I liked the view, you can take a lot of photos if you like to do so. There are goats and bunnies there, but you have to watch out for seagulls if it's the mating season, they can be quite aggressive.

I saw the island from Dillon’s Park and found it to be absolutely stunning and surreal. You could see the tower snd church on the island from here. No doubt, I’d love to personally visit the island as well in the future.
