Disappointing Experience Highlighting Mismanagement and Broken Promises My friends and I recently experienced a highly unfortunate day at this golf club, which has left us questioning its reputation. We had booked tee times for just past noon on a Saturday, only to discover upon our arrival that a shotgun tournament had been organized for the afternoon. This resulted in us being directed to bypass from the 10th hole to the 14th, curtailing our play and thus ruining the competition we had organised amongst our friends.
However, what ensued was even more frustrating. The staff in the pro shop assured us post-game that our grievances would be addressed, and we were promised a follow-up call from Maurice, the General Manager, the following Monday.
Regrettably, this call never came. Despite us proactively reaching out twice the subsequent week, we were told each time that Maurice was busy and would return our calls promptly. Two weeks later, we are still awaiting that call.
This experience has left us feeling deceived and uncertain about the club's commitment to its patrons. If something goes awry, it seems that one cannot rely on the club to uphold its promises or make amends. We feel deeply disappointed by this blatant disregard for honest communication and the basic tenets of customer service. It is a distressing precedent for how this establishment conducts its business and treats its customers.
The golf course itself was nice, some great scenery and...
Read moreFounded in 1908 this is one of four long established golf clubs in the vicinity of Cork City all of which were established in the late 1800's and early 1900's. It is an 18 hole parkland course measuring 5,705 metres with a par of 70. Unusually it starts with a par 3 and some of the earlier holes have spectacular views over Cork harbour.
While not the longest of courses it offers a good test of shotmaking skills. It has a reputation as the most sociable golf club in the area and is also well known for it's high standards of catering. Built around Monkstown Castle which served as it's clubhouse from 1908 until 1971 the castle is still retained as the...
Read moreI cannot speak highly enough of the service, manner and food provided by the restaurant staff. During lockdown their takeaway dinners, menu and meals were absolutely fabulous. Their daily Facebook updates were reliable and collection methods well thought out. Eventually returning to dining inside our much needed family event was catered for with the utmost professionalism with truly sumptuous meals. Definitely on a par (pun intended) with the top restaurants in Cork. My sincerest thanks for a great afternoon. I look forward to...
