Heron Sauna — Local services in The Municipal District of Muinebeag

Spacious sauna in lovely location, probably the best set-up I've been to in Ireland. The owners put a lot of thought into the layout and have included some great facilities that you don't find elsewhere - the Heron has a toilet, individual changing cubicles and uses large flagstone patio slabs so you could easily walk barefoot between the sauna and the plunge pools. (Sliders/flipflops required to cross the carpark to swim in the river).

It's good to see they encourage sauna-goers to shower before using the plunge pool and use towels in the sauna, keeping the facilities clean for everyone. I also noticed staff cleaning all areas and topping up the plunge pool between sessions and the on-site cafe with friendly staff is a welcome service.

A wonderful and utterly tranquil experience from start to finish. Eoghan was so welcoming and informative as it was my first time using a facility like this. The facility was well kept and clean. The dressing rooms were easy to access and use. The cold plunge pool and cold shower were so refreshing after the sauna. Beautiful scenery over looking the River Barrow and a safe space to swim afterwards. Bathrooms are easy to access. There is an area to keep your belongings safe. There is also a lovely little cafe/shop for coffee, drinks and snacks. You can enjoy these in a beautiful resting space on lounge chairs.

We absolutely loved our visit to Heron Sauna in St Mullins. The riverside setting on the calm Barrow is just perfect..stepping from the heat of the wood-fired sauna into the refreshing cold plunge felt incredible. Everything was so well thought out, from the cosy changing spaces to the relaxed atmosphere. Finishing up with a coffee by the river made the whole experience feel complete.
