Incredibly intact for 700 year old building a testament to the original construction. Much of the upper levels are no longer accessible due to health and safety gates but still worth a look.

I only saw this from a distance but the photos suggest that its a wortwhile visit. There are so many like this throughout Ireland. Its a pity that they all ended up this way.

Free entry and good for photos Well maintained grounds of the ruins Bit of a walk from village or park at the cemetery

Oh I loved my visit to the Ardfert Friary, myself and my husband climbed the tower and walked all around the ruins, its so interesting and beautiful, especially the surrounding views and the walkway with the Arches. You can park in the car park and then walk to the Friary, it's just a short walk to it and well worth it. I got some smashing photos around sunset. It is a ruins so safety should be on your mind when walking around it, small children should be watched at all times and definitely not be allowed to climb up or on anything. There are no facilities there so so don't expect toilets or a shop, it's surrounded by fields and farms and is unmanned. I Would recommend it to anyone who loves history, architecture, nature...

Few steps away from the town centre of Ardfert, we walked to these beautiful church ruins in the countryside. Form the Cathedral it's a nice walk along the road, could have been better if a trekking route were there. Going around this silent place and climbing on the centuries old stone stairways is a really nice visit, but if you want to learn more about the history of the place to have to visit the...

A most underrated site. A nice little walk from the car park but totally uncommercialised. Combined with the Cathedral in the village, the significance of this area as a Christian University is...
