This Airport is relatively small compared to a standard one but this shouldn't exclude it from doing the bare minimum in 2022. It's like the airport is stuck in the past.
Management: How can you not open the second half of the departure areas when the entire lobby is full of people and people are already sitting on the floor. There was no staff around not even a cleaning crew just passengers for hours.
The toilets: I don't understand the logic behind putting only "squat toilet" in the women's bathroom and putting "English toilets" in the man's bathroom but no "Pissoir" its 2022 and this airport has international passengers and I'm sure even the locals would appreciate modern toilets.
Boarding Lobby: The area has multiple large flat screen televisions but uses only one small television to project the flight information for the gates the rest of the televisions are used for advertisement...and even that one tv is placed behind a columnb which is not visible to every passanger. It should be in a loop if those ads are so important so at least people whom are sitting on the ground all over could see the gate information.
Passenger behaviour: During our long wait we noticed that 1 passenger was smoking his iQos in the boarding lobby and no smoke alarm or any staff cared he was smoking all over the place like he is at home but as mentioned above there was no staff later then he casually walked to his gate and boarded his plane.
Shops in the Boarding lobby: If they are not selling the product inside the Boarding lobby then they shouldn't advertise it the excuse "we have a bigger shop outside of the boarding lobby there we sell it but here we don't" is ridiculous you can't advertise something that you cannot sell, or what they think I would go back to the first part of the airport to buy...
Read moreThe main airport for the north west of Sardinia. Ten years ago it was little more than a big shed, but the transformation with large investment has been huge but not well spent.
There are lots of positives such as a good selection of carhire companies located inside the single terminal, mostly friendly staff and quite clean.
The biggest negative is the lack of any decent food or retail shops in the departure area. They totally mis-designed the shops and bars where the best ones are outside the departure area, and not where the hoards of people are trapped in a small departure area.
The three stores that are inside the departure area have not changed in 5+ years and are ridiculously overpriced (200% of normal prices) and have nothing of real interest. The main store consists mostly of cheap tourist trinkets. The coffee bar is just as weak and need investment serving cold sandwiches, but good coffee. A weak mobile phone signal makes it even harder.
As a regular traveler to Alghero I have suffered many delays in the departure lounge, and it is...
Read moreThe airport is very small so you can figure things out. The airport staff were helpful and friendly. Although the security kept swiping my bag for something and we asked what they were checking and were ignored. It was very weird. Like others said, there's not much seating so get in that line quickly if you want one. The jewelry stores are priced very high but the pieces are beautiful. Shop lady was sweet! The vending machines didn't take card either.
After checking in, there's a small coffee shop and the lady at the register was extremely rude. She kept correcting me which was okay (I do not speak Italian) but she threw my receipt at me. I brushed it off. I waited for my coffee and yet she served 4 more customers while looking at me. I asked her colleague, who read my receipt and they talked back and forth. She then still took long for my one tiny order. They also gave me a plastic spoon and everyone else had a metal spoon. I'm still confused about that. She was very rude, not sure what her problem was but she needs to leave it...
