We were greeted by a server annoyed we had booked through the Fork because he did not want to pay commission, but we found and booked the restaurant through the fork.
Then they started serving us starters even though we didn't order anything. We asked the server how the restaurant worked and they told us it was a fixed menu for 40 euros. Be mindful that in the fork it did not state anything like that, instead showing a menu where pastas were about 12 euros. We indicated to the server we did not want the full menu, as we weren't hungry enough for it. He got upset and said they couldn't do it then started a discussion with me and wanted me to leave immediately and pay half the menu (so 20 euros) after only having received the starters. After a long discussion we paid 15 euros per person just to leave the place.
Instead of doing that, the server could have recognized their mistake of not advertising properly on the Fork, served us a pasta and charged a smaller price than the 40 euros. If the food was good, we could have even come back for the whole experience. Instead he chose to offend and argue. Really a pity, he ruined our family evening and did not gain...
Read moreWe came here to get simple and honest sardinian food and have not been disappointed. Everything was made from local products, the owner told us for each dish where the components were from: from his own farm, from that of family members or his hometown. He almost excused if something had to be bought externally. Bread and wine is homemade.
Our menue was very rustical, exactly what we wanted: ham, sausage and cheese as starters, pasta with melanzane and their own oil, lamb cooked with artichokes, and tiramisu soaked in homemade limoncello, perfect for summer. More mainstream dishes like risotto and swordfish were also available, just ask what they offer that day. White vermentino and a red cuvee from their own fields, both delicious. Very heartily and friendly athmosphere, all family members working together, with la nonna sneaking out of the kitchen with each course, being curious if we liked it and happy to tell how it was made.
Nice and delicious, a perfect evening. Totally recommend. Also perfect for bigger groups. Close to Alghero and easy to find. We will go there again on our next trip...
Read moreThis amazing restaurant is now called Rudas, and less than 15min from Alghero by car. We booked on the same day and they prepared an entire course of meal with local products. We really enjoyed the entire experience; friendly and generous service, as well as unique and delicious meal different from restaurants in city center. Everything is homemade including award winning house wine, olive oil, bread and of course the ingredients of the meal. The presentation of food was also beautiful! Prepared to be very hungry as there will be three appetizers, 1st and 2nd, and dessert and fruits with wine, digestives just for 35€. I didn’t want to be rude but couldn’t finish some dishes and they kindly gave me a box to go. Definitely worth and highly recommend to have this authentic experience outside of the city! Thank you very much for keeping us comfortable to stay for more than 3 hours when we were the only guest. Would love to go back with...
