Sun Sea Beach - Lido e Ristorante — Local services in Avola

We enjoyed a spontaneous day at Sun Sea Beach Club in Avola yesterday (mercoledi) securing a thatched umbrella with two loungers steps from the clear Ionian sea. My cousin and I were in good company with local families and tourists, the young men on staff were friendly and respectful. The music varied between English and Italian (wished it were more of the latter), although it was a bit loud at times -- so napping may take a moment if that's what you're hoping for. The Lido receives full sun throughout the day and has the benefit of the ocean breeze to cool you off if you are not in the sea.

We also had lunch. The menu is a diverse selection of seafood, we had Crudo Gamberone & Pesce Risotto, a bottle of frizzante, and a cappuccino (47 euros). The one thing I will say is that the service is a little slow -- perhaps punctuated by the aid of the minute glass timer on the tables, not all food comes quickly and trying to get the attention of the server for the check was nearly impossible. If you wait too long go directly to the cashier /kiosk and let them know you're table # to expedite your time to the sea.

All in all it was a lovely day at the beach -- we were there for nearly 8 hours (get there early...

Appena arrivati al lido , aspettiamo 5 minuti poi chiediamo per una postazione a un impiegato dietro il banco (non un passante ) , con fare molto scocciato come se avessi una colpa a chiedere, mi dice : eh aspetti un attimo , con un tono poco gradevole, poi viene in cassa una signora stesso comportamento senza salutare , mi dice cosa volete ? ( Cosa posso chiedere in uno stabilimento balneare una radiografia? ) Gli dico un ombrellone e 2 sdraio, e lei 30€ !! Gli dico per favore un tavolo per due Alle 13:30 . Già dopo 10 minuti sarei andato altrove ,ma sorvoliamo . Ci sediamo a pranzo patio adibito a pranzare pieno . Tavolo nostro prenotato neanche apparecchiato, ma alla fine non è un problema, in vacanza 5/10 minuti non sono un problema. Ordiniamo 2 insale con pesce spada a tocchetti e una zuppa di cozze , Una birra cristalli di sale e una naturale piccola . Arriva la zuppa di cozze, devo essere sincero buonissima fatta bene e abbondante anche per due . Arrivano le insalate, una puzza non indifferente attira l'olfatto della mia compagna, assaggiando il pesce e annusando una puzza allucinante, secondo la nostra opinione quindi non dico sia così ... Insalata già pronta messe in frigo e andata a male . Viene un signore che sembrava il propietario non si è presentato quindi immagino, cosa è successo? E gli diciamo il tutto ... Lui era sicuro che non era un problema di pesce ma di salsa , dicendo io vendo 5 kg di pesce al giorno( mai sentito una salsa che fa puzza di marcio chi la mangerebbe ? ) noi asserti nella sua spiegazione ,e con un po' di fame e infastiditi lasciamo correre facciamo finta di essere quello che non hanno mangiato mai pesce... Gli chiediamo di assaggiare e lui diceva che non gli piaceva la salsa guarda caso , comunque assaggia il pesce e non lo sputa perché aveva un patio con 60 coperti ma credo che se era da solo lo avrebbe fatto . Ovviamente dopo sta sceneggiata stile film di Mario Merola , aspettavamo un insalata senza salsa , per noi era scontato che arrivasse in automatico e non abbiamo detto nnt al cameriere. Ovviamente è stata la prova del nove il problema era il pesce non la salsa se no mi riportavano una porzione senza salsa . Se io ordino una cosa e non va bene un ingredienti secondo voi per quel giorno non mangio ? Devo riordinare? È una salsa che può essere estromessa dall'insalata non è un prodotto cucinato e quindi è impossibile farne a me . Dopo chiedo il conto non mi arriva e mi alzo e vado a pagare , ovviamente stesso modo gentile , pago e mi dice il presunto propietario tutto bene ? Ma in che senso non segui la sala i tuoi clienti? Il tuo staff ? Mah comunque penso di essere stato abbastanza chiaro . Prezzi da ristorante gourmet, esperienza da neofiti , pago per un pranzo , per un lido per tutto ma devo avere un riscontro... Di cordialità, qualità e rispetto e a volte si ingoia il rospo con il cliente . E i prezzi andrebbero adeguati, troppo esagerati anche per tasche piene . Sconsiglio spero il mio feedback sia costruttivo per lo stabilimento e non venga preso come una recensione...

Great little bar and creek in Avola. Even in April it is clean, with very fine goldy sand, and pristine sea water. 👌

When it's windy you're protected from the wind by the rocks left and right. 👍

And when hungry or thirsty, there is the bar on the beach with very friendly people. Nando is the boss, and his team take care of you. Aperitif with snacks, good food, perfect ambiance. 😋

Update 02.05.2024 : full service at the beach, with bruschette and wine (excellent white Etna wine and red Nero D'Avola), followed up by the fish of the day, grilled with vegetables and potatoes in the oven. As usual, perfect, and all with a very friendly...
