Stop looking! Agriturismo Podere Cunina is the place where you want to stay. My husband and I traveled throughout Tuscany for two weeks, and without a doubt, our favorite place was here. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer; we could have easily spent one to two weeks if we had the time.
The atmosphere was so peaceful, and the 360-degree views were breathtakingly beautiful. The sunrises and sunsets each day were spectacular. The owners, Silvana and Piergiorgio, along with their son Marcello, were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. They were very responsive throughout the booking process, which I did directly on their website and by emailing them. They gave many suggestions of what to do in the area during the winter season and while staying at their Agriturismo.
We stayed in the Morus apartment upstairs, which was spacious and very comfortable. It was decorated with various antiques that reflected the life of the Tuscan countryside. The bed was super comfortable, and the apartment had everything we needed, from cooking supplies to laundry facilities. Since we visited during the winter season, heating was important, and we were pleased to find that the shower always had hot water with great pressure. The underfloor heating kept us cozy at night. The view from the room was perfect. There was this special loft upstairs that had a big window where we could sit and drink wine and watch the sunset. The interior of the apartment was exactly what we needed. However, we couldn’t resist exploring the farm area and sitting outside on the beautiful patio. From there, we enjoyed a view of the pool, gazed at Montalcino in the distance, and watched the sunset while sipping a glass of wine.
We had a rental car, which made it easy to reach their location and explore the surrounding towns. There is a small town called Buonconvento just down the hill, and we were only ten minutes away from Montalcino, close to all the attractions in the Val d’Orcia region, including Pienza and Montepulciano. It was the perfect location to access it all!
We had two amazing experiences offered by the Agrotourism that were the highlights of our trip. First, we took a full-day wine tour where we learned about the three main types of wine from Tuscany and enjoyed a delicious lunch. Marcello, their son who is both a chef and a sommelier, selected each winery for us and drove us between the different towns.
The second experience was a cooking class with Marcello. He created a fantastic four-course menu based on our preferences and provided us with the recipes afterward. We gained so much knowledge during this class and can’t wait to recreate each dish at home. We made fresh pasta, Cacio e Pepe, Tiramisu, and Filetto in crosta. After cooking, we sat down to enjoy the lunch we had prepared together with Marcello and his parents. We had great conversations, shared many laughs, and will remember it forever. We were sad to leave, but will be...

Read morePodere Cunina was remarkably fantastic and exceeded our expectations in every way imaginable. The Freddi family (Silvana, Piergiorgio, and Marcello) were welcoming from the moment we arrived, and warm and friendly throughout our stay. Booking directly with Silvana was easy and she was always very responsive to our questions along the way. ||The Cunina farmhouse is on a gorgeous piece of property at the top of a breathtaking valley of rolling hills full of olive trees and grape vines in every direction. The property itself was perfectly landscaped, by Piergiorgio himself, with beautiful paths that our lined with herbs, vines, and flowers. The website shows fantastic and very accurate pictures. The pool, with its large paver deck full of chairs and umbrellas for every farmhouse apartment, was gorgeous and sat positioned on a landscaped ledge overlooking the valley toward the small village Buonconvento. Podere Cunina organically farms and produces amazing olive oil and superior saffron. The property offered beautiful sunrise and sunset scenes beyond imagination!!||The farmhouse apartment we stayed in was spacious, extremely clean, and comfortable; beautifully and authentically restored to the way it looked centuries ago. The kitchen was well equipped if you wanted to stay “at home” and cook a meal. In fact, Podere Cunina’s herb garden is available for you to indulge in to spice any dish you choose to cook. ||For extracurricular activities, Podere Cunina offers both a wine tasting tour and a cooking classe. Marcello took us on a very informative all day wine tour to nearby vineyards and cellars in Montalcino and Montepulciano. His cooking class was done right on the farm in the Freddi family kitchen, where you can afterward dine with culinary creation, enjoying wonderful conversation with Marcello, Silvana, and Piergiorgio. It was an awesome experience. ||Podere Cunina’s location is perfectly centralized about an hour south of Sienna. Along with the wine tour day trip to Montalcino and Montepulciano, we also visited Sienna, Arezzo, Cortona, and Pienza. All were easily accessible via gorgeous drives through the...
