Villa Camelia is a a really lovely apartment with an absolutely stunning view of Lake Como - BUT in my opinion it isn’t worth the hassle!
We have visited the Vila Camellia on two occasions and can confirm that your stay is all about grabbing your money up front and “blagging” the rest of your stay using the representatives. It is not about fulfilling a customer experience in any way! Unlike other apartments, they take your money up front and also require a very hefty security deposit of 500 euros (that i do not feel really warrants the entire contents of the property). On our first visit first the air conditioning did not work at all and only on the penultimate day were we offered fans. We were also not offered any compensation for our inconvenience.
BUT…(and with very serious regret) we were seduced by the memories of our family holiday, the apartment balcony, the pool and the fantastic lake views and decided to return. Despite reassurances that the air conditioning was working it clearly doesn’t work at all! After 2 days it appeared to us that the temperature was on a timer and programmed to a minimum of 27 or 28 degrees and would only run for 30 minutes or until I light was switched on (probably to minimise running costs) meaning it was often cooler outside than it was inside. At one point the system was described to us as an “air recirculating system only” and “ that is how it is meant to work”. It got to the point that we could not tolerate the lies, excuses and false promises anymore.
The apartment, the balcony and the pool are also completely plagued by wasps, flies and mosquitos making it completely uncomfortable. Adding the thin and uncomfortable mattresses to the high night time temperatures and abundance of mosquitos makes sleeping very difficult.
On multiple occasions there was no hot water. The main pool is also fairly cold (even in mid August it is about 15 or 16 degrees) but the children’s pools is slightly warmer with it been much shallower.
My only advice is if you want to take the risk of the stunning views then keep hold of your money until you are entirely satisfied with your stay - that way you are in control and with the power of the internet you could move as required (as we did). It is amazing what other properties you can find out there and I totally don’t regret our decision to move properties mid holiday! Also go armed with plenty of fly papers and mosquito repellents!
The owners of this property really need to be “honest”, focus on customer experience and undertake regular pest control and spraying. If the property doesn’t have air conditioning then that is fine but don’t advertise it and then lie about it with excuses after excuses! This is really a stunning apartment with missed opportunities due to...
Read moreThe owner of the apartment illegally canceled our rental contract simply because we had booked the apartment for the minimum stay period of 3 nights. Despite the terms and conditions stating a minimum stay of 3 nights, the owner insisted on a week-long rental. This was confirmed in our WhatsApp conversation. However, due to budget and time constraints, I explained our situation to the owner and completed the reservation.
A few days later, we received a cancellation email citing "overbooking," which was untrue since our desired dates were still available. Instead, they had changed the minimum stay requirement to 5 nights for the summer season and updated the terms and conditions after the contract was signed. The business owner's behavior was dishonest and showed a lack of consideration for customers. Communication was inadequate and dismissive, ignoring my explanation for the 3-night stay.
I advise others to avoid this property if they wish to avoid uncomfortable and dishonest dealings...

I was recently at Villa TaDi LaRo with some friends and we were amazed. Whether you want to relax or have some action, here is something for everyone. For me one of the most amazing places I've had the pleasure to visit. The owners are super friendly, helpful and always available. In addition, they give valuable tips for the region. For us, for example, it was a wine festival in a small village, definitely an insider tip. The equipment of the apartment is well designed and covers all needs. I will definitely come back again, because there is still so much I have not seen in the region. Thank you again for this...
