La Renaia Agritourismo, Montalla, Cortona||||My wife, Lynn, and I just returned from our 2+ week visit to Tuscany. Our 2nd week was spent at La Renaia Agriturismo, Montalla, Cortona. Carola is a warm and wonderful host, and the accommodations in our apartment, La Loggia, couldn't have been nicer or more spacious. Our bedroom was very large and our bed was comfortable - a great place to "crash" after a day of walking the steep streets of Cortona. The kitchen was large enough for the two of us and well equipped, and Carola had a basket of goodies waiting for us upon our arrival. She even had a bottle each of her fathers rosso (on the table) and bianco (in the fridge) for us - how great is that? Just off the kitchen was a large partially covered patio deck that was great for relaxing, writing in our log, and just absorbing the views and sounds of the surrounding Cortona countryside. We didn't get to use the pool because it was the first week of October, but it was beautiful. The days were warm enough, but the evenings cooled the water down - but who cared - we were in ITALY, and just outside one of our most favorite Tuscan hill towns!!||||La Renaia is about 10-minutes from Cortona, which is plenty close enough but far enough to make you feel a part of the land, if you know what I mean. Just be very careful when pulling out of the driveway on to the road because the locals fly by very fast and you kind of have "blind spots" looking either left or right, so in-out slowly then floor it! Cortona has a great new car park and escalator system that makes getting in and out a breeze. La Renaia and Cortona are in a great location for exploring the area and other amazing hill towns close by. If you've never tried an agritourismo accommodation, try La Renaia - you won't be disappointed.||||Vic &...
Read moreWe have had a wonderful stay at La Renaia. We booked the Loggia, which had a large balcony with good chairs, sunbed and a large sunshade. Perfect for a relaxed breakfast, lunch, dinner or late evening drink ;-). The apartment had a good air conditioning unit in both bedrooms and we had a nice little dishwasher in our kitchen. All the comfort you need for a relaxed holiday. The swimming pool was really good (large) and had comfortable sunbeds and nice natural shade by some big trees. The water was a bit cold the first days, but after 4 days it was warmed by the sun and excellent. Almost all time we had a private pool. Cortona is near by (3 km) and has some excellent places for lunch and dinner (Fufluns, Bucaccia, Osteria Del Teatro, Dolce Maria or La Logetta). Also a nice place to have some good, not expensive food, is La Tufa in Ossaia, which is 2 km drive from La Renaia. For some real good meat you go to the local supermarket Lunghini, also recommended by Carola (the owner) as well where you can buy some real good home made salami with...

This time we had the appartment "Il Grande", 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a dishwasser. The appartment is very spacious, comfortable and very clean!!||The swimming pool served us well and the sunbeds are comfortable. Near the pool you have wifi.||One of the reasons we stay here regularly is the nearness of Cortona. What a lovely little town this is. The place we go to eat is called Trattoria Toscana, Via Dardano 12 near the big square. This is an excellent place to eat, good food, good wine for very reasonable prices. Book a table before you go. The restaurant is closed...
