It is probably the case of the soft focus photos and snazzy website raising expectations, so this review is based on that. ||||This is a fine place, in a good location close to Mantua. Behind it is a very nice forest and cycle path. Throw in an attached restaurant offering good value lunch and dinner (not every day) and what could go wrong?||||For the price, this place is probably a 4 out of 5. However, I'm giving it 3 because it is just a bit too basic vs other very compelling agriturismo in this region and close by.||||This property is quite close to a main road. Whilst you cannot really hear that road noise in the rooms, it's very noticeable outside, somewhat harming the ambience.||||The rooms themselves are very basic. The hot water is intermittent at best (running hot and cold every 15-30 seconds or so). The wi-fi wasn't working (to be fair, the owner very, very quickly had someone 'fix' it - but it still didn't work). This was fine, who needs wi-fi on holiday.... unless it's raining and then it's quite useful!||||The apartment we were in was great for size but basically equipped. The microwave didn't work. There was ample kit for cooking and a decent fridge. The beds were just about adequately comfortable. Towels and sheets on the basic side. Shutters on the windows were excellent for those looking for black-out.||||The grounds of the property are quite nice, with animals and things for the kids to do. It would be even better if there was some organised horse riding for the kids.||||The breakfast was just about OK. Still pretty basic - lots of the usual sweet stuff. Jams were lovely. Coffee adequate. No hot options and entirely self service.||||The attached restaurant (owned by the cousin) was actually very good. Big portions, fair prices, decent quality. Fairly priced wine.||||Overall, I would rather pay a little more and have more comfort and quality. So we left 2 days early (with the owner being very generous in not charging us both days, but 1 which was fair) to be closer to Venice, where we found a fantastic property at the last minute.||||Would we go back? No. It says more about us than the property as it's clear that many enjoy this place - so I encourage you to be open minded and make up your own mind. As I said, at the price point, it's probably fair. It could be even better with...
Read moreHad an overnight stay in one of the apartments. Very nice place. The apartment had all that one could wish for, comfortable beds and a nice shower. ||The location was close to the main road, but far enough away so as not to be bothered by the traffic. ||The location is 'twinned' with another place that had a restaurant, and judging by the car park we missed a treat. We had not booked it and there wasn't a table free. The very friendly owner gave us a long list of places to go to and we took her advice and had a very nice meal somewhere else. ||Breakfast was again a friendly affair with lots of homemade cakes, jams, honey and decent coffee! ||The children were enthralled with the animals and the very friendly donkeys who came to have their ears scratched! ||All in all we have a very good time, I wish we could have...
